The Voice Australia winner is revealed – as they take home $100,000 cash prize and a recording development package

The Voice Australia aired its gripping grand finale on Sunday night, with Reuben De Melo crowned the winner of the popular singing competition.

Reuben, who was part of singer LeAnn Rimes’ team, couldn’t contain his shock after host Sonia Kruger, 59, told him he had won a recording contract and $100,000 in prize money.

“I never thought I’d get this far, this is crazy,” he exclaimed.

Elsewhere, Rimes couldn’t contain her excitement when the FIFO employee and father of three won.

“I’m so proud,” she began.

“You deserve every bit of this moment and I am so honored to be on this journey with you.

“You’re incredible,” she concluded.

Reuben competed in the Grand Finals alongside Team Adam’s Annie Jones, Team Kate’s Jaedyn Randell and Team Guy’s SKŸE.

In addition to the coveted title, Reuben won $100,000 in prize money plus a music masterclass you can’t buy and a recording development package for the industry.

In a breathtaking final solo performance of The Animals’ House Of The Rising Sun, Rueben left all four coaches in awe, with singer Kate-Miller Heidke praising it as ‘exceptional’.

‘I can’t stop smiling. You just gave it everything. That was just crazy,” added Rimes, who also joined Reuben on stage for a heartfelt duet of Coldplay’s Fix You.

Reuben captivated Australian audiences – and show judges Adam Lambert, Guy Sebastian, Heidke and Rimes – with his first ever Blind Audition.

LeAnn wanted him on her team and used her Ultimate Block to guarantee that he would be on her team.

“I knew as soon as he opened his mouth and I heard him sing,” she said at the time.

‘There was just so much feeling in it. There was no way I was letting any of the other coaches get to him before I did.”
