Whoopi Goldberg believes Elon Musk is Donald Trump’s real vice president, not his running mate JD Vance.
On the latest episode of The View, Goldberg, 69, theorized that Vance, 40, was only second-in-command on an “interim” basis as she noted Musk’s growing influence on the future administration.
She wondered why Musk had not yet given up the social media platform he controversially purchased in 2022, X, in light of his ties to the newly elected president, 78.
“I believe Elon Musk is the actual vice president. Yes, I believe so, she said, adding that Vance is an interim of sorts.
“But I believe Musk is the real vice president. He makes decisions, he does things. So I’m thinking, “Why doesn’t he have to give up X?”… I’m musing.’
Trump and his “first friend” Musk have remained seemingly inseparable over the past two weeks as the pair attended the UFC match together and Musk joined Trump for family meals and photos.

Musk has joined Trump in calls with world leaders and has weighed in on personnel decisions as a member of the administration’s transition team.

A Trump-Vance transition spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, told the newspaper: “Elon Musk and President Trump are great friends and brilliant leaders working together to make America great again.
“Elon Musk is a once-in-a-generation businessman and our federal bureaucracy will certainly benefit from his ideas and efficiency.”
Trump had repeatedly mentioned Musk and his space-related achievements on the campaign trail.
“Did you see how that loser landed today?” Trump said in early October. ‘It just needs a new paint job. That’s a lot cheaper than building a new one, right?’
At another meeting in October, he added: “Elon is a great guy, he is one of our geniuses. We must protect our geniuses, and we must care for our geniuses. There aren’t that many.’
He often talked about how impressed he was with how the company developed rockets that could be collected after returning to Earth.
“I believe Elon Musk is the actual vice president. Yes, I believe so. Because I think JD Vance is kind of an interim,” Goldberg said

Trump recently appointed Musk, along with entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, to head his newly created Department of Government Efficiency.
“It’s a bromance,” a member of the Mar-a-Lago resort who saw the two interacting told Politico, “and they’re having a blast.”
Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this month to become president again.
Since then, he has made a slew of controversial cabinet choices, including famed physician Dr. Oz as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
