The View’s Whoopi Goldberg, 68, leaves her co-hosts STUNNED after revealing that ‘of of her last relationships’ was with a man 40 YEARS older than her – prompting Joy Behar to quip: ‘Is he still alive?’
Age is no barrier for Whoopi Goldberg, who left her The View co-hosts in total shock today when she admitted that one of her last relationships was with a man 40 years older than her.
The 68-year-old Sister Act star let her recent romantic tryst slip during a heated panel discussion about the backlash over Anna Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine’s age difference in their new film, The Idea of You.
Whoopi confessed that age is ‘not an issue’ for her when she gets into a relationship, before coyly revealing her multi-decade love affair.
“12 (years) isn’t that bad,” Sara Haines, 46, said during the Hot Topics segment, in response to the actual age difference between Anne, 41, and Nicholas, 29.

“I dated a man 18 years older than me,” she continued. ’11 seems more acceptable to my parents.’
Joy Behar, 81, who tied the knot with partner Steve Janowitz in 2011 after nearly 30 years of dating, declared that she “thinks she’s younger” — noting that her husband is seven years younger than her.
“(Steve) drives at night, he does the hard work, he’s as sharp as a tack – when I get old and decrepit, he’ll drive me around,” the longtime panelist said. “I don’t want them to get old.”
After pointing out that Sara and Sunny Hostin, 55, were also married to younger men, the question was then posed to Whoopi; who admitted to dating both younger and older men.
“I’m going from here to here,” she said, gesturing with her arms toward a long age.
“Because I’m not, you know… it’s not your age that’s going to get me in your arms,” she said.
‘It’s not your age I’m worried about. Unless you’re under 18, in which case I can’t do it, I can’t do it at all, but you know what.’
“A big gap can be problematic,” Joy mused.
“Cause when you’re twenty and forty that’s fine, and even forty and sixty, but now sixty and eighty is getting a bit…” Joy explained, before Whoopi intervened.
“Actually, I just have to say this to you: One of the last relationships I had, he was 40 years older than me,” she revealed.
’40? Is he still alive?’ Joy exclaimed as Whoopi nodded.

Whoopi has not released any information about her older boyfriend, or when the relationship took place.

She was first married to Alvin Martin, four years her junior, in 1973 from 1979, with whom she shares her only daughter named Alexandrea.
She then married cameraman David Claessen, three years her junior, in September 1986, and they divorced in 1988. Her last marriage to union organizer Lyle Trachtenberg ended in 1995.

The Ghost actor was in a long-term relationship with actor Frank Langella, who is 17 years older than her, for several years and their relationship ended in 2001.
She then dated businessman boyfriend Michael Visbal, but they ended things in 2004, with Whoopi stating she did not want to get married again.
Despite having several high-profile relationships in the past year, Whoopi has made it clear in recent years that she “doesn’t want to live with anyone” and has stated that being single is her personal choice.

Whoopi has been plagued by rumors about her sexuality over the years, with many wondering if she was a lesbian.
However, during an interview with Raven-Symoné on The Best Podcast Ever in 2023, Whoopi put those rumors to rest after her former co-host told her, “You’re giving me lesbian vibes!”
‘Women have been asking me this as long as I’ve been here, I’m not a lesbian. But I know a lot of them, and I’ve played them on television,” Whoopi said.
She continued, “But I’ve always had lesbian friends because they’re just my friends,” before recalling a conversation she had with one of her friends.
“I’m not going to kiss you, but I’m going to kiss you here, I’m going to do this, but I’m not going to do this… And they’re like, ‘Okay!'” she explained.
