The View’s Alyssa Farrah Griffin reveals she was victim of domestic abuse as she defends Cassie for not leaving Diddy after 2016 beating

Alyssa Farrah Griffin revealed today that she was a victim of domestic violence in a previous relationship as she defended Cassie Ventura for not leaving Diddy after the 2016 assault that was caught on surveillance video.

On Monday’s episode of The View, Griffin said she was a “victim of domestic violence in a previous relationship” and that she was one of the “lucky ones” because she was able to leave.

She did not name her attacker, but said, “Part of this conversation that I’ve seen since this video came out is why didn’t she leave?” She said, “And that’s what I want to talk to.”

‘I was once a victim of domestic violence in a previous relationship. It happened once.

“I was one of the lucky ones where the power dynamics were in my favor and I was able to leave. I could walk away and remove myself from him. In the vast majority of cases this is not the case. They use financial abuse to hold you, emotional manipulation.”

“I hope the book gets thrown at him, the apology was missing, he didn’t mention Cassie. There was no message for young men,” Griffin said.

Since the video, Griffin said she has seen people asking why Cassie didn’t leave Diddy after the attack.

In Cassie’s case with Diddy, she said, “If you add to that the fact that this is a multi-millionaire, an incredibly powerful person, there’s a whole industry going on to make money off him. She had no hope of getting away from him.”

Griffin did not name the former partner or provide any details about the alleged abuse. She is currently married to Justin Griffin, whom she married in 2021.

She worked for Mike Pence and as a member of Donald Trump’s communications team before resigning in 2020 and has been married to her husband Justin Griffin for two years.

Since the video of Diddy attacking Cassie in 2016 was shared by CNN last week, Griffin said she has seen people asking why Cassie didn't leave Diddy after the attack.

It is not the first time that the presenter has spoken out about domestic violence.

She previously tweeted: ‘There is a special place in hell for men who abuse women. I hope the book is thrown at him.’

Last week, shocking surveillance footage emerged of Diddy violently attacking Cassie at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.

The video, obtained by CNNshows the shirtless rapper with a towel wrapped around his waist as he chases Cassie down the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.

When she tried to get into an elevator, he grabbed her by the back of the head and knocked her to the ground.

He then kicked her as she lay motionless on the ground, before grabbing the two designer bags she had tried to escape with.

Diddy stood over her, kicked her again and then dragged her by the hoodie back to their room.

Cassie claimed in a now-settled lawsuit that Diddy paid the same hotel $50,000 for the footage after the attack.
