Alyssa Farah Griffin is unimpressed by her The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg’s recent blunt question about whether she was pregnant.
Goldberg, 67, left her co-stars jaws on the floor on Thursday after asking Alyssa, 34, point-blank if she was pregnant — prompting a quick denial.
Griffin said she took the question as a “compliment” and defended Goldberg’s awkward curiosity — prompted by her noticing “a glow” in Alyssa — about the Behind the table podcast.
“Whoopi, she thinks out loud sometimes, and I chose to take it as a compliment — that I’m beaming,” she said, adding of her co-host, “She’s so sweet.”
However, she admitted that the timing of the question wasn’t ideal as her mother-in-law and mother-in-law happened to be in the front row watching her that day.

“If there are two people in my life who want me to be pregnant today more than anyone else, it’s them, so the most serendipitous moment,” she said.
Griffin also shared that Goldberg apologized: “During the break, she apologized to me and gave me the heart sign,” she revealed.
Meanwhile, The View producer Brian Teta revealed what Goldberg told him after the incident.
‘Whoopi said to me afterwards: ‘It just came over me, I don’t know what happened. “It was like a vision,” and she felt it just come out of her,” he said.
Griffin then said, “That’s what makes the show fun. It’s completely unpredictable. I thought we were talking about Mitt Romney, but then we talked about my future pregnancy plans – and again, front-page news: I’m not pregnant right now.”
Griffin also chuckled as she sang praises to her makeup artist for making her face “look like it was glowing” that day.
The former White House strategic communications director continued to laugh off the situation, telling Teta, “I was literally getting texts from reporters during the commercial break like, ‘Do you want to respond to this?’
‘I used to answer questions about things like: there was a rocket attack in Afghanistan and now I think: ‘No, I’m not going to comment on my fake pregnancy now.’
Thinking out loud: Griffin said she took the question as a “compliment” and defended Goldberg’s curiosity: “Whoopi, she thinks out loud sometimes.”
Shocked: Goldberg outright asked Alyssa if she was pregnant on Thursday’s episode of The View. Alyssa was visibly shocked by Whoopi’s question and quickly shut down the speculation
A glow: Whoopi said Alyssa had a ‘glow’ about her and got a ‘vibe’ that she was pregnant
Taking Bets: The View’s Sunny Hostin asked if the panel could make “bets” on a pregnancy
Griffin added that when she has a pregnancy announcement, she will inform Whoopi immediately.
“If and when I’m pregnant, I’ll definitely blurt it out. “I will definitely interrupt Whoopi to inform her,” she said.
She wrapped up the conversation by saying that Goldberg is usually the one to warn her about giving away too much personal information.
“I guarantee if I told her in person that I was pregnant, her advice would be, ‘Wait until you’re ready to tell people.’ So that’s the funniest thing about it,” she said. “She would never just shout it into the air. But listen, that’s what makes the show interesting.’
Goldberg derailed the ABC program on Thursday when she asked the bold question, which came unsolicited, in the middle of a discussion about Mitt Romney’s resignation.
A stunned Alyssa let out an audible gasp and appeared visibly shaken before quickly shutting down the speculation.
‘No! Oh my God!’ she insisted. ‘You can’t say that in front of my mother-in-law. Why? Do I look pregnant?’
“Yes,” Whoopi replied. “I just have a vibe.”
“Please don’t say it’s my stomach!” Alyssa laughed, prompting an apology from her colleague. ‘I’m very sorry’.
Sunny Hostin, 54, then asked the group if they could take bets, which gave way to Alyssa admitting that she and her husband Justin Griffin are competing to start a family together.
“I’m very open to getting pregnant soon,” she said. “I’m not blessed to be pregnant yet.”
“Forgive me,” Whoopi replied. “I see a glow.”
Happily Married: Alyssa is married to Justin Griffin, a graduate of New York University’s Stern School of Business
Cute couple: The couple tied the knot in November 2021, a year after he popped the question
Not yet: Alyssa revealed that although they hope to start a family, she is not yet pregnant
“I’ll take a test when I get home just to be sure,” Alyssa promised, before quickly turning the conversation back to politics.
Viewers were equally baffled by Whoopi’s outburst, with one calling the question ‘crass’.
Another wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Why the hell did Whoopi randomly ask Alyssa if she’s pregnant???”
Alyssa married her husband Justin in November 2021, a year after he proposed. Members of her family, including her father and stepmother, boycotted her wedding due to her differences with Donald Trump.
Although Alyssa doesn’t have children, she revealed on the show last month that she wants to be a mother – despite previously being insecure.
“For me, marriage was…I always knew I wanted a husband,” she told viewers. ‘I was never sure I wanted children. I’ve always wanted company.’
Clarifying her comments, she continued: ‘I was a divorced child (which gave me some mixed feelings about having children), but when I met my husband I thought, “Oh, I want children too.”
