The View panel clashed during Wednesday’s episode as they had a rather tense debate over whether or not it’s “offensive” to ask someone if they’re taking a weight-loss drug.
Whoopi Goldberg, who admitted taking Mounjaro earlier this year, argued that not everyone feels “comfortable” sharing details about how they shed the pounds – while Sara Haines suggested that “public people” are always there should be open about it.
Mother-of-three Sara claimed: ‘We have lost so much life on our bodies that I forgive those who say, “What’s your miracle cure? Help me,” and I forgive the person who says, “This is really private, I don’t really want to share that.”
“But if you’re public, I disagree. If you’re public and you write on an image, I think you owe it to people.”
“Why?” Joy Behar asked, while Sara, 46, fired back, “Because I think when you’re sitting there and everyone’s consuming everything from you, and then you find the miracle drug and you take it and everyone’s like, ‘You look great,’ and you’re like, ‘I work out a lot and eat lean protein…’”

Whoopi Goldberg Shared Why She Decided to Be Honest with the Public About Taking Mounjaro to Lose the Pounds
“Well, don’t lie about it, that’s the point!” Whoopi, 68, intervened as Sara continued: ‘But they all do it because someone will say, ‘You look great,’ and they leave out what the magic was!’
Joy, 81, said again: “But the ads are on TV all the time so it’s obvious why you lost all that weight,” while Sara fired back: “If it’s obvious, just say so!” but Joy was having none of it and blurted out, “Why? It’s really no one’s business!’
Sunny Hostin then shared her thoughts and said, “I think if you are a public person, you cannot lie and you cannot refrain from doing it because omitting is actually a lie.
“But I also think we would never say to someone, ‘Are you taking this diabetes drug or are you taking this antidepressant?’ We wouldn’t do that.’
‘Well, for that you need a lot more information. You should know that someone…” Whoopi suggested, before talking about her own weight loss.
‘Yes, I brought Mounjaro. I did it, you know. I say it all the time because you can’t get down from almost 300 pounds without someone saying, “Okay, what happened?” Because you know I haven’t been to the gym! People know that!’ the mother of one said candidly.
Sara then said, ‘Sunny, you said something about answers about medications, one thing is that I struggle with a lot of anxiety… when people have written to me privately and said “Help me, I’m struggling with the same thing”… I have she answered.
“Because if I have a secret and it works for me, I’ll say, ‘This is what I did and this is what helps me,’” she added, as Whoopi pointed out, “And you feel comfortable with that.” .’
The Sister Act star added, “But not everyone is comfortable with that. You can’t expect everyone to tell you everything, because some of us are at a certain age where we won’t tell you everything.

Comedian Joy Behar responded to Sara’s comments, arguing that ‘it’s no one’s business’
‘This idea that we have to share what we eat, who we sleep with, all these photos, I don’t want to know! I do not want to know! I’m glad you’re doing your thing [but] I really like the privacy, I like that.’
“I’m not posting about it as a ‘guess what I’m taking,’ it’s like someone DMing you or asking for help,” Sara said defensively, as Whoopi reminded her, “Well, if they come to you and ask for your help, but we’re talking about sharing and being public and all that.”
‘No, I wouldn’t just put it there! Well, I’m definitely bringing stuff, guys, so write me privately if you want to know!’ Sara added before confirming that she uses “things that help you with anxiety.”
In March, Whoopi opened up about her own weight loss journey during an episode of The View, admitting that she turned to the medication after her weight ballooned to 300 pounds while she was filming the 2021 movie Till.
Whoopi’s weight loss confession came as the daytime show hosts discussed Oprah Winfrey’s new ABC weight loss special Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution, in which the TV mogul touted Ozempic while defending her decision to use it.
In response to 70-year-old Oprah’s vehement defense of the drugs, Whoopi stepped in to reveal that she herself had turned to the drugs as a last resort on her weight loss journey, after trying a number of other methods to help her slim down .
“I’ll tell you, you know, I was almost 300 pounds when I made Till,” Whoopi revealed.
‘I had been taking all these steroids, I was taking all these things and one of the things that helped me lose weight is the Mounjaro… That’s what I use.’
Whoopi, pictured here in 2021, turned to medication after gaining nearly 200 pounds during the filming of the movie Till.
Sunny, pictured here in March 2021, also admitted taking Mounjaro after gaining weight during the pandemic
This prompted her colleague Sunny (55) to make a similar confession, sharing that she gained 40 pounds during the COVID pandemic and made the decision to use Mounjaro to try to lose that weight.
“All I did was eat… I love cooking and I discovered that I love food and I was shocked that I had to come out here,” she said. “I brought Mounjaro too and got all these nasty emails and stuff.
‘[They said]: “You’re too skinny and… you’re taking it from diabetics.” So there is shame when you have gained weight. I had never experienced that kind of shame before and what did I like about it? [Oprah] said: Obesity is a disease, right?’
Sunny added, “What I want to say is that if someone has diabetes and they are being treated for diabetes, it’s fine. If someone has heart disease, that’s fine. They are not ashamed of it, but if someone is obese, they are ashamed of it.
“I noticed my cholesterol went up to 200 when I gained extra weight and I took Mounjaro, and my cholesterol is now 140. I feel better, I look better and that’s what matters.”
