The US Navy says a fighter jet with two on board crashed in Washington state during training

The U.S. Navy was searching Wednesday for two pilots who went missing after their plane crashed during a routine training flight, according to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.

The Electronic Attack Squadron’s EA-18G Growler aircraft crashed east of Mount Rainier on Tuesday about 3:23 p.m. Search teams, including a US Navy MH-60S helicopter, were launched from NAS Whidbey Island to locate the crew and investigate the crash site.

The two crew members remained missing Wednesday morning. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
