The unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2 is said to be imminent
- Reliable sources suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal could happen soon
- Leaks indicate that we can expect a hardware-focused trailer later this week
- This is similar to the strategy used for the original Nintendo Switch
At this point I’d forgive you if you’re tired of all the Nintendo Switch 2 rumors and leaks, but thankfully it looks like we won’t have to wait that long for an official reveal of the console.
Multiple credible sources have claimed that the system will be unveiled this week. One such source is Tom Warren, editor-in-chief of The Verge, who states in a recent article X / Twitter post that he “heard this should be the Switch 2 reveal this week.”
In case it wasn’t clear from my tease in Notepad last week, I heard this was supposed to be the Switch 2 reveal this week 👍 https://t.co/2m3ZEW2kyfJanuary 13, 2025
According to game website VGCthe Nintendo Switch 2 will likely be revealed in a “two-part” format. The first part will reportedly focus on the console itself, describing its hardware features without exploring the software offering in depth. This would then be followed by a second trailer at a later date, outlining the upcoming launch library.
This is in line with the strategy the company used for the original Nintendo Switch. You may remember that the console was first shown off in a three-and-a-half-minute reveal trailer on October 20, 2016. We saw many of the console’s features in action, plus a handful of upcoming games briefly visible on various screens everywhere.
This was then followed by a more extensive reveal on January 13, 2024, which introduced us to upcoming games such as Poor And Splatoon 2.
It seems highly likely that Nintendo would take a similar approach this time around, possibly showing off features like the rumored mouse-like optical Joy-Con sensors. This could be a very exciting week for Nintendo gamers.
