The unusual recipes on Meghan Markle’s Thanksgiving table that she swore were fit for a ‘queen’

With Thanksgiving just a week away, everyone is starting to prepare for the big meal, including Meghan Markle — or at least she was 10 years ago.

In an unearthed post from The Tig Archives, On her now-defunct lifestyle blog, Meghan offered her loyal readers three recipes for the holidays.

And according to Meghan in 2014, the menu will leave you “the king or queen of happy bellies and full hearts.”

The recipes that The Suits star admitted were given to her by ‘Clean Team’ Dr. Alejandro Junger & Dhru Purohit, including a delicious main course, salad and healthy dessert.

The member of the British royal family, who married Prince Harry in May 2018, began the post by explaining that she “loves” turkey, but sometimes it’s not always suitable for entertaining a small group.

‘I love a brined, stuffed and roasted turkey just as much, but if you’re only cooking for two, a smaller bird might be more for you – and paired with a beautiful side dish and delicious dessert, you’ll be the best . King or Queen of happy bellies and full hearts,” Meghan wrote in the introduction.

She called their recipes “gulp, delicious cooking,” and even wrote that there is no “carb coma aftermath” to the dishes because they are “clean eating.”

The first recipe Meghan highlighted was an oven-roasted chicken breast, complete with mushroom and leek gravy – a bit of a different take on a traditional turkey.

She writes that the recipe is suitable for two people, and it is quite simple: it takes only 10 minutes to prepare and 30 minutes in the oven.

To liven up the chicken, the recipe consisted mainly of greens and garnishes such as leek, chopped thyme and chopped parsley.

“Mushrooms have been shown to increase vitamin D levels, boost immunity and make a delicious gravy when combined with sautéed leeks and fragrant herbs,” Meghan wrote of the delicious main course.

“This would make a great meal any time of year, but it’s also a wonderful alternative to a traditional Thanksgiving turkey, in case you didn’t get a free-range turkey this year,” she added.

And interestingly, Meghan was roasting a chicken when Prince Harry proposed to her in 2017.

Next on the menu was a roasted acorn squash salad, made with a sunflower sauce.

This salad also served two, and took a whopping 45 minutes to prep and cook everything.

However, Meghan assured readers that it was a “great way to enjoy the last of the fall vegetables.”

But if you can’t get fresh lettuce, you can use “healthier mixed greens,” or even the squash and sauce alone.

“Sunflowers are high in vitamin E (the body’s most important fat-soluble antioxidant), magnesium and selenium, and this delicious sauce has many uses, so don’t be surprised if it becomes a regular part of your kitchen,” she explained.

And of course you can’t skip dessert on Thanksgiving, so the Clean Team provided a recipe for almond butter bites.

“These protein-packed little treats are not only delicious and taste like dessert, but they’re also easy to prepare,” Meghan wrote.

‘They have a long shelf life and are great to take with you on all your adventures. Nutritious and hunger-satisfying, these truffles make a great breakfast, post-workout snack, mid-afternoon pick-me-up, or dessert,” she continued.

The founder of the American Riviera Orchard admitted they were better than eating “processed candy.”

“You can even dip them in chocolate and give them as a nice gift,” she wrote at the time.

“And instead of binging on processed sweets this Thanksgiving, use these treats as a tasty, clean alternative.”

And of course, you can’t skip dessert on Thanksgiving, so the Clean Team provided a recipe for Almond Butter Bites

And although Markle’s blog The Tig has now closed down, the mum-of-two is now planning to get back into the lifestyle world with the launch of her brand American Riviera Orchard.

These tasty treats don’t even require time in the oven because you simply combine the ingredients in a bowl and roll them into one-ounce balls.

Once they are on a plate, you can place them in the refrigerator or freezer to ‘set’ them.

And although Meghan’s blog is now defunct, the mother-of-two plans to return to the lifestyle world with the launch of her brand American Riviera Orchard.

The company launched in March when she sent jars of strawberry jam to famous friends like Mindy Kaling and Kris Jenner, but the brand seems to have gone quiet since then.

The jam came in an aesthetically pleasing bowl with vibrant Sicilian lemons.

However, Meghan has had several setbacks in her attempt to trademark the name, and it is unclear when the products will be offered to the public.
