The Traitors winners reveal their ‘shock’ during THAT final showdown as they react to winning £100k

The winners of BBC’s The Traitors have revealed they were “shocked” to discover Wilfred Webster was the ultimate traitor during the finale of the reality show on Thursday night.

Aaron Evans, 24, Meryl Williams, 25, and Hannah Byczkowski, 32, made the confession while appearing on This Morning on Friday for the first time since they won.

Comedian Hannah admitted she got over the surprise pretty quickly, as it meant she would win a whopping £100k under the show’s rules.

She told presenters Josie Gibson and Andi Peters: “I’m very loud, so I thought, ‘Don’t be a threat to anyone, don’t be someone they want to get rid of,’ and then I was the first to speak. round table! I thought: “You are an absolute idiot.”

She added: “When Wilf said he was a traitor, I was like, ‘Well, we just won a hundred grand,’ before Meryl chimed in: ‘I was so shocked.

‘I was sad to lose my friend, but I wanted to get the traitors out. It’s hard to tell the difference between friendships and contestants because we built really good friendships there.’

Reaching the finale, Hannah quipped, “My family was like, ‘She’s been kidnapped? She must be fine.'”

Aaron added: ‘Seeing it again, it’s overwhelming. After a couple of days, I said, “What’s everyone’s name?”

“Homework was my favorite thing to do on the show, we were jumping out of helicopters and speedboats, it was very James Bond-like.”

Meryl talked about the intense roundtable sections, where the group meets to discuss who they suspect to be a traitor before banishing a contestant.

She said: ‘Our hands were sweating. It was so intense. She was thinking: “Do I drink the water or will they think I am a traitor?”

The nail-biting spectacle came to a close on Thursday night when Hannah, Aaron and Meryl won the massive prize pool of £101,050, split evenly between them.

After her win, Meryl revealed that she hopes to follow in the footsteps of host Claudia Winkleman and become a presenter, while both Hannah and Aaron head in a new professional direction after leaving their jobs.

Speaking after her win, Meryl explained: “I work in a call center as a customer service agent and I really want to get into the TV and journalism industry as a presenter.”

“I’m going to use this time and money to get into it,” he added in a chat shared by Sun.

Meanwhile, Hannah stepped away from her job doing pre-show grooming assessments and although she’s broken into the industry, she now plans to become a full-time comedian.

While Aaron has also quit his job as a real estate agent and is going on a trip in 2023, which he plans to document on YouTube in the midst of his plans to become a vlogger.

However, despite winning a whopping £33k from his share of the money, Aaron made good on his promise to give the money to his mum for a deposit on a house.

Revealing his reaction, he explained, “She was crying when I got back from the show and then once I told her, she started crying even more.” It was very emotional.

Meanwhile, the hunk has already garnered a lot of attention and flirty comments in his post-show DMs.

He said: ‘I’ve had a lot of love and a lot of mothers offering me hugs. Right now there is a fan page of me in pants.

The tense finale of Thursday night it was a close decision for all three winners after Wilfred Webster nearly made it before being caught when he and fellow traitor Kieran Tompsett turned on each other.

Kieran was the first to be eliminated by the other four contestants in the finale, but walked away with a cryptic “parting gift” when he revealed to the others that he thought Wilf was a traitor.

Finding out that her best friend, Wilf, had betrayed her, Hannah said: “It was a shock because I had never considered it.”

“We had grown so close that I was like, ‘How does nobody else see that he’s a faithful?’ It never occurred to me.

When he said it, I could see the relief and happiness on his face at the result.

On how the game will affect her trust in others, she added: “I can never be in a relationship again.” I guess it actually has.

Meryl said of Wilf’s cheating: ‘I was in shock. I literally fell to the ground when Wilf told us that he was a traitor. I didn’t believe it

‘I was completely shocked like, ‘How did you lie to me and Hannah for so long?’ But it’s a game and I was playing it very well.

While Aaron shared: ‘At the end of the day, it’s a game.

“Even if he had gone Wilf’s way, there would have been no hard feelings.”
