The Traitors’ Claudia Winkleman reveals the hilarious gaffe producers pulled when she had a health woe on set and shares her quirky fashion inspiration

Claudia Winkleman has revealed the hilarious blunder producers pulled on her while filming the current series of The Traitors.

The TV presenter, 52, suffered a bad back on set and asked the team for a massage, but her masseur wasn’t quite who she thought he was.

The star shared the anecdote on Friday’s upcoming episode of Graham Norton, explaining: ‘I did my back and asked if I could see a physio. We’re in the middle of nowhere, so that wasn’t easy.

“When this guy showed up, the producer asked me not to be chatty with him. I thought she meant I wasn’t allowed to talk about what was happening in production.

‘So I asked him who else he’d treated and he said, “Two digger horses and a miniature dachshund” – it turns out they didn’t want me to know he was a vet!’

Meanwhile, Claudia is known for her statement bangs, dark eyeliner and nude lip, and the star also revealed her bizarre fashion inspiration for this series of the BBC hit show.

Explaining that she always has a muse behind her look for every series, she said, “For Strictly speaking it was Anita Dobson and this year it was Demis Roussos.

‘For Traitors it’s Princess Anne and Sarah Brightman. We’ve already decided what next year I’m going to dress up as Gerald from Clarkson’s Farm!’

It was another drama-packed episode on Thursday night after fans were branded this year’s contestants named ‘the worst Faithfuls ever’ after once again failing to track down a traitor.

Tyler was banished from the castle after receiving the most votes at the round table.

But then he revealed that he had been a believer all along, sending shockwaves through the room and sending Livi storming off in tears.

Claudia compared the show to her offspring: ‘I’m always very nervous that people aren’t watching and then extremely grateful that they are.’

She joked: ‘I think of Traitors the way people think of an offspring – you’re so happy when people love it.’

Still, the presenter remained tight-lipped about what will happen in the series, adding: “I can’t say much, but the producers are so smart and there are a lot of twists and turns coming.”

Elsewhere, presenter Graham revealed that Claudia will replace him on his iconic chat show as he takes an extended break from TV to head to Australia for a live tour.

The legendary presenter, 61, will travel Down Under in February to present An Evening With Graham Norton, in which the Irish presenter discusses hilarious stories and sheds light on some of his career highlights, before taking questions from the audience.

And when Graham announced that Claudia would intervene, she joked: ‘I apologize in advance!’

Earlier this week, the mother-of-three revealed that her children are ‘not allowed’ to watch her on TV under ‘strict instructions’ in her household.

The Traitors host shares Jake, 21, Matilda, 18, and Arthur, 13, with her husband of 24 years, producer Kris Thykier.

In an interview with Grazia, the TV icon admitted: ‘They didn’t see me. They are not allowed. No one watches what I do in my house, under strict instructions.

She added, “Even though they broke rank and looked at Traitors, I was shocked.”

Claudia honestly added that the hardest part of parenting is having to watch her children move away while her eldest two have left the nest to go to college.

“It’s horrible,” she said, “I don’t understand why they don’t put that in the baby books, along with all the advice about breastfeeding and how to steam pumpkin.”

Claudia married her film producer partner in 2000 and she has previously explained how she manages to balance her career with family life, joking that ‘my husband is a better parent than me’.

The TV personality also confessed that her children beg her to give them some space during the ten months of the year when she is not busy presenting Strictly Come Dancing.
