“A month later they sent me an email saying they had written a pilot for Season 2. And I thought, great, 'give it to me now,'” she continued.
In season one, set in Australia, Elliott (Dornan) wakes up in an outback hospital after an accident, with no idea what happened to him or why.
Filmed in Ireland, season two continues the story a year later as Elliott tries to connect with his roots, leading to complications with his family.
The new season follows the action to Dublin, a year after Elliott left the outback, where he comes face to face with his past.
Helen (played by Macdonald), an outback police officer, travels to Ireland with Dornan's troubled character, but is drawn into the mystery of his past life.
Macdonald adds: 'The writers have a very specific writing style. It's funny, it's dark, it's wild and it's crazy. It was a world I wanted to be a part of.”
Earlier this month Macdonald revealed to Ny Breaking Australia what it was like working with her sexy Fifty Shades of Gray co-star
“Jamie is amazing and wonderful. He is really fun, funny and incredibly trustworthy and supportive,” she said.
'I always felt 100% cared for and we work very similarly. We're always on the same page about characters. He always has your back, so it's a pleasure to work with him.”

She also insisted he looks nothing like his controversial character Christian Gray in Fifty Shades of Grey.
'I don't see him as Christian Gray at all. If anything, he's further away from him. He's like a total madman and a very funny Irishman. Not this as a hardcore hardcore man,” she added.
'He is so many worlds away from that character as a person that I can't even see that character in him.'
Danielle also said it was 'amazing' filming season two of The Tourist in Ireland.
