The surprising state that produces the most Christmas trees revealed

As Santa prepares to shuffle down the chimneys, people around the world are putting the finishing touches on their Christmas trees.

The festive fir trees have become a regular part of the holidays as cheerful families gather every year to decorate their trees.

And many holiday enthusiasts have Oregon and North Carolina to thank for their sparkling trees.

According to the United States Department of AgricultureChristmas trees are grown on 16,000 farms across the country.

The Census of Agriculture found that the US will cut down more than 14.5 million trees in 2022 alone.

Half of the trees cut in 2022 came from two states: Oregon and North Carolina.

The states have excellent growing conditions as they produce the famous Noble, Douglas and Fraser trees.

Oregon grows more than 4.7 million trees each year, which is about 33 percent of all Christmas trees produced in the US.

Meanwhile, North Carolina isn’t far behind, producing nearly four million trees annually.

Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Washington are also among the top growers.

According to the Michigan Agricultural Council, Michigan produces more than two million Christmas trees annually.

Washington is falling even further behind because it produces only about a million trees per year.

The state is known for growing Scots pine, balsam fir and Fraser trees.

Likewise, Pennsylvania grows about a million trees and has 1,400 farms across the state.

Wisconsin is at the bottom of the list because it has 800 Christmas tree farms.

The cheese state is a producer of Scots pine, balsam fir and Fraser fir and tends to cut down about 700,000 trees annually.

Homeowners Savannah and Jason Burgoyne found a wild owl on top of their tree after it flew in through the chimney.

They shared photos of their surprising new holiday decor and shared them online.

The couple enlisted the help of Sergeant Spencer Murray of the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) to safely remove the wild animal from their home.
