The final episode of The Supervet was thrown into chaos when star Noel Fitzpatrick suffered a horrific injury during emergency surgery on an animal.

In a new, intense episode of the Channel 4 show, the 56-year-old TV vet and his team got to work helping a number of patients.

One of them was an outdoor cat named Oz. The cat’s owners, Cassie and Ashley, admitted that he had a very adventurous nature and that they often saw him climbing trees.

However, they became concerned when they saw that he was limping and decided to go to the Supervet team to have them investigate what was wrong.

Luckily, Noel was on hand to help the cat and the scenes changed dramatically when Oz had to go to hospital for surgery to save his leg.

But during the tense procedure, the TV vet himself was seriously injured, leaving him unable to work.

Noel dislocated his thumb during surgery, causing him to pace the operating room and mumble softly in pain.

“I just dislocated my thumb,” he exclaimed, before dramatically stepping away from the table.

“Oh, you look like you’re in pain,” remarked a concerned colleague who was tending to the cat.

Keeping an eye on the time and his patience, the star had to force his thumb back into place himself. He admitted that this was not the first time this injury had happened to him.

Despite the chaos on screen, Noel’s dedication paid off and the surgery went well, with Oz’s owners confirming he is back to normal after the tense operation.

Shocked viewers wrote to X: ‘Why am I watching the #Supervet? Way too stressful’ and ‘Why hasn’t Noel been knighted yet, with all his services to animals… #thesupervet.’

Noel has run a veterinary clinic in Surrey for the past 20 years, Fitzpatrick Referrals.

He treats hundreds of animals a year and has a team of more than 170 people who help him.

When Noel spoke about his love for animals in December 2023, he said enthusiastically: ‘Animals give us much more love than we could ever give them in terms of protection.

‘It is almost impossible for someone who has not experienced it themselves to explain the unconditional bond between humans and animals.

“There is a certain kind of love that only a being, and not a human, can share with us.”
