The Sundays: Beautiful ‘Bali style’ beach hotel coming to Hamilton Island

Australia will soon welcome a new Bali-style beach hotel that will offer amenities such as a beachfront pool, waterfront restaurant and lush tropical gardens.

Construction is underway on the $30 million hotel on Hamilton Island, with the grand opening planned for fall 2025.

Located on the palm-lined shores of Catseye Beach, it features 59 rooms with views of the Coral Sea.

Hamilton Island CEO Pete Brulisauer said the hotel was designed with families in mind.

“It will be a place where you can expect an extraordinary experience for all ages, set amid the breathtaking natural beauty of Hamilton Island and The Whitsundays in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef,” he said.

Mr Brulisauer said Hamilton Island can be reached by direct flights in less than 2.5 hours from major cities on Australia’s east coast.

As a result, there has been a surge in domestic travelers looking for a luxurious tropical island escape without the hassle of international flights.

“We also continue to welcome international travelers who want to experience the best Australia has to offer, including Whitehaven Beach and the iconic Heart Reef,” he added.

The project, expected to cost $30 million, adds to the Oatley family’s $400 million investment in improving the guest experience on Hamilton Island since it was acquired in 2003.

Guests can choose rooms with a balcony or terrace, offering picturesque views of the Coral Sea and the hotel’s lush gardens

Hamilton Island, purchased in 2003 by famed winemaker Bob Oatley, is a top tourist destination thanks to its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef.

Since taking over the island, the family has spent more than $400 million on improvements, including the development of the 18-hole golf course on neighboring Dent Island.

The hotel is expected to create more than 100 full-time jobs for the Whitsundays economy.
