The stylist’s first tip is to combine similar colors to draw the eye down.
“Pairing similar colors next to each other will not create a horizontal line in the frame,” Melissa said.
One of the best things you can do to look taller is to invest in a pantsuit in a block colour, as this will create the illusion of height.
Melissa recommends that you stay away from scoop neck tops if you want to elongate your body, because they ‘close your cleavage’ and can contribute to shortening.
“Instead, V-necklines draw attention,” she said, opting to pair a classic white V-neck T-shirt with a black blazer and jeans.

Earlier, Melissa revealed her three secrets to dressing for your proportions and the one trick you should try to make sure you’re dressing for your figure.
The first is to put a lot of thought into your color combinations.
“Using two opposite colors really draws attention to this midsection,” the stylist explained in a previous video.
“Whereas two complementary colors really lengthen the silhouette.”
Melissa’s second fashion secret is that you should always tuck your top in instead of letting it hang down.
The reason for this is that this will highlight where you are narrower.
“If you leave the top unbuttoned, it cuts into you, doesn’t balance your top and bottom, and hits you in the widest part — your hips,” Melissa demonstrated.
‘A subtle fold catches the eye here [your waist] unlike here [your hips].’

“If you’re short in the upper body, the V’s are your friend,” she said.
‘Use V-necks and vertical lines to elongate your upper body.
“If you have a longer body, you’ll want to wear high-waisted pants or skirts and stand out with horizontal stripes, rather than tops and bottoms.”
For those who lack clear waist definition, the stylist recommends trying to “create a middle ground for your frame.”
You can do it with a belt and/or a tight waist.
If you do this, you will instantly look trimmer and trimmer at the waist.
