Prepare your innies and outies accordingly, folks, because Disconnection The official trailer for season 2 has dropped – and it’s an absolute doozy.
Before the critically acclaimed Apple TV series returns to our screens in January 2025, the tech giant’s streaming division has given us our best look yet at the sci-fi mystery thriller’s second outing. Disconnection 2’s first trailer was trippy and disturbing enough, but trust me when I say there’s a lot to also unpack this new, almost three-minute teaser.
Major spoilers follow Disconnection season 1!
Cue a slightly disturbing version of the iconic Four Tops Reach out (I’ll be there) song, the trailer of Disconnection‘s second season is full of exciting moments. To start, we see Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and Seth Milchick (Tramell Tillman) playing a cat-and-mouse game within Lumon Industries and in the real world. The couple’s various meetings and exciting conversations then follow That stunning season 1 finale, which saw Mark and two of his fellow macro data refiners in Helly (Britt Lower) and Irving (John Turturro) successfully insert their innies into their outer bodies using Lumon’s secret Overtime Contingency device. We also learned that Helly is Helena Eagan, aka the daughter of Jame Eagan, the current CEO of Lumon, who will surely set the proverbial cat among the pigeons.
But I digress. Surprisingly, the group is not punished by their superiors, but instead installed as the face of ‘Severance Reform’. It’s clear that Lumon wants to maintain some form of peace to prevent the quartet from causing more trouble, but knowing Mark, Helly, Irving and Dylan (Zach Cherry), they’ll create even more chaos.
The rest of the multi-award-winning show’s latest trailer suggests this will happen. Indeed, Mark’s team discusses the lives of their forays later in the teaser, with Mark eventually telling his colleagues that Miss Casey (Dichen Lachman), Lumon’s welfare chief, is Mark’s presumed-dead wife Gemma. Cue shock and awe galore.
There’s a lot more than the latest footage from one of the best Apple TV Plus shows. There is an ‘outie’ confrontation between Mark and Harmony Cobel/Mrs Selvig (Patricia Arquette). There are a few shots of Mark and his team, working together in the real world to unravel more Lumon secrets. There’s the revelation that Burt, Christopher Walken’s retired Optics and Design manager, is still very much alive in the real world. Oh, and there are plenty of first looks at Season 2’s newcomers, including the mysterious ones Disconnection character you’ve been dying to know more about, someone watching a CCTV footage of Mark and Helly’s surprise kiss from season 1, episode 8, and even more disturbing clips that give me chills. And don’t worry, we’ll see more of those baby goats Disconnection‘debut season.
In addition to all the aforementioned actors and the character they play, Jen Tullock’s Devon and Michael Chernus’ Ricken are also back as part of the season 2 cast. Joining Christie on the front of the new regular cast members is Sarah Bock (The Coneisseur) and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (NOS4A2).
Want more details about what awaits Mark and company in next season’s ten episodes? Plot-wise, there’s not much else to glean from the two teasers, nor from the season 2 synopsis, which simply reads: “In season two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of playing with the severance package, which leads them further get on a path. of woe.” In short: January 2025 can’t come soon enough.
Disconnection Season 2 kicks off with a one-episode premiere exclusively on Apple TV Plus, also known as the winner of Ny Breaking’s 2024 Best Streaming Services Award, on January 17, 2025. New episodes will air weekly until the finale on March 21 .
