The Spice Girls ‘set to reunite as they enter advanced negotiations for a jukebox musical movie’

The Spice Girls are reportedly getting together to make a jukebox musical film.

According to reports, the girl band has entered “advanced negotiations” for a movie featuring their greatest hits.

Sources say the movie will be produced by SeeSaw Films and will be a coming-of-age story about a Spice Girls superfan.

The news comes 26 years after the band’s cult classic Spice World came out and became a box office hit.

In the 1997 film, the girls played fictionalized versions of themselves leading up to a major concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Speak with The sunsaid a source: “Everyone is really excited about this script, but it will be a completely different song than Spice World.

“It doesn’t feature the girls, but it’s basically a friendly, upbeat coming-of-age story—a jukebox musical—about a kid who’s obsessed with the Spice Girls.

In terms of style, it’s very similar to Take That’s recent Great Days movie, which was adapted from their show. It will be endorsed by the band – all five of them signed on to the project – and will feature some of their songs.’

MailOnline has reached out to Spice Girls representatives for comment.

They add that Geri Horner is in charge, speaks to the producer regularly, and is eager to make the film a hit.

The band hopes the proposed film will be more successful than their ill-fated West End musical, Viva Forever.

The jukebox musical opened in 2012 to huge negative reviews from critics.

In May 2013, it was announced that the show would close after just seven months, losing ‘at least £5 million’ due to poor ticket sales.

The movie news comes after Geri put a stop to rumors that the Spice Girls will reunite next year to perform at Glastonbury to mark their 30th anniversary.

A source told The sun: ‘Victoria turns 50 next year, and the girls turning 30 seem like two anniversaries too good to miss.

The band was formed in 1994 and the debut single Wannabe reached the top of the charts in 37 countries in 1996.

The band took a hiatus in 2000 when Victoria left the band and briefly reunited in 2007 for a worldwide tour, selling out tickets for their London O2 performance in under two minutes.
