Developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts (EA) have unveiled the following downloadable content (DLC) for The Sims4 and it focuses on all things romance.
In the first place, The Sims 4 In Love The expansion pack adds the ability to create an online dating profile in the brand new Cupid’s Corner app. Your Sims will be able to browse other profiles, match with other Sims, and schedule dates. In addition to a selection of characters from your current world, the app will feature player-created Sims from the online gallery, theoretically giving you nearly limitless dating options.
The way Sims navigate their relationships has also been overhauled with the addition of an attraction system that balances attraction and turn-offs. These affect how much your Sims are drawn to each other and reflect their overall compatibility in interests, activity choices, and more. Relationships will fluctuate between four possible dynamics based on your decisions: healthy, steamy, tense, or unpredictable.
During a date you can quickly change your choice of location, making it easier to visit other areas or return to the bedroom. Other Sims will finally no longer interrupt your dates (unless you specifically invite them to chat), leaving the focus solely on your partner. Additionally, a new Romantic Boundaries system lets you control how your Sims handle different boundaries, such as physical and emotional romantic exclusivity, and more accurately determine when they experience jealousy.
The Sims 4 In Love also includes a host of new items and interactions, like an adult costume box that lets your Sim deck out in everything from a maid outfit to a wrestling outfit, shareable candy boxes, and a wearable blanket for getting dirty on the go. In addition to two new aspirations, Paragon Partner and Romantic Explorer, a new Romance skill will gradually level up with experience, unlocking even more interactions to try out.
It’s not all roses and sunshine, however, as Sims who experience bad breakups too many times can die of a broken heart. People in particularly toxic relationships have the option to seek therapy before it’s too late, and your Sim can even try helping others through a new career as a Romance Consultant, which offers its own unique rewards.
As with others The Sims4 expansion packs, Blinded by love introduces a new world to explore called Ciudad Enamorada. With an expansive park, an array of romantic date spots, and an uptown neighborhood with plenty of chic venues, it sounds like the perfect place to take your dates.
The expansion launches on July 25, 2024, and is currently available to pre-order for the standard price of $39.99 / £34.99. Those who purchase the expansion before September 5 will receive a number of bonus digital items, including the Cry Me a River Eyeliner, Basic Breakup Double Bed, and Herbert Heart Plushie.
