The ABC has revealed that it wants to make more series, such as their hit comedy game show Hard Quiz.

Hosted by funny man Tom Gleeson, the show is a consistent ratings winner on national broadcaster and has run for up to eight seasons since its debut in 2016.

An ABC spokesperson added that the network also wants to produce more comedy in a variety of formats TV tonight.

“We’re always looking for good, strong comedian-led programs that really resonate,” an ABC executive told an audience of insiders at a recent industry conference on the Gold Coast.

These shows include ABC favorites like The Weekly with Charlie Pickering and past hits like Rock Wiz.

Meanwhile, a Channel Seven spokesperson told the conference that the network is looking to invest in drama that would appeal to a female and 40+ audience, such as RFDS, the network’s big-budget outback medical drama.

“The stories really resonate and they are thought provoking,” she said.

The director also teased that Seven viewers can look forward to more True Crime in the coming year.

The RFDS reboot premiered to a decent 604,000 metro viewers and was Australia’s first new drama in 2021.

The final episode of season one had a total TV audience of 1.02 million, including 705,000 overnight viewers (national).

RFDS was sold to six major territories before its August 2021 debut.

They are looking for unscripted formats such as travel and cooking shows.

It comes after Foxtel’s Binge gained viewership after streaming Gogglebox and Rockwiz.

Foxtel also hinted they were in the market for another Aussie-produced high-end drama like The Twelve, starring Sam Neill.
