Double-tap the spacebar to skip adding a period

This hack allows you to type long winded messages without pausing and finding the dot icon.

And while the shortcut may be obvious to some, users must activate the feature in order to use it.

Go to Settings, then General and select Keyboard, where there are six toggles for texting options.

The last must be ‘.’ Shortcut – and all you have to do is flip the switch green.

Turn the space bar into a mouse

If you make a typo while texting, it’s sometimes impossible to tap your finger in the right place to place the typing cursor.

Instead of dragging the cursor over the text, you can use the keyboard by sliding your finger left and right on the space bar to edit it as a trackpad.

Hold your finger on the space bar until you feel a vibration – don’t remove your finger.

You can then move the cursor through the message.

Schedule text messages in advance

Users can also schedule text messages in advance through the Shortcuts app with an option to resend the message daily, weekly or monthly.

A daily message can be useful as a greeting to a family member or partner, while a weekly or monthly text is useful for certain chores or errands.

To schedule your SMS, you must first click on the ‘Create personalized automation’ option and select the ‘Time of Day’.

Then you have to click on the ‘Message’ icon and choose whether you want to resend it daily, weekly or monthly.

Users can schedule messages as once or daily, weekly and monthly.

But if you only want to send the message once, you can disable the recurrence after your message has been sent.

Once you’ve selected a time slot, all you have to do is hit the “Send Message” option, then turn off the “Ask before you start” feature and the text will be sent automatically.
