The rise of the Floodborn will also expand the background knowledge of Disney Lorcana just a tiny bit, giving extra detail to the so-called ‘Floodborn’ characters. From Tuesday’s press release:

Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn delves into the inky origins of flooded glimmers – Disney characters transformed by a mysterious flood of ink. Illumineers and glimmers travel beyond the Great Illuminaris, which was damaged by a flood of magical ink. The six inks (Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Steel) were released in a confused, chaotic form. When story-born or dream-born sparkles encountered this mixed ink, they flowed with a power that changed and transformed them into flood-born sparkles. As the magical ink flowed from the Illuminary, valuable knowledge went with it, including the powerful trident of Disney’s King Triton.

Several Floodborn were released without explanation in the launch card set, including one sought after giant version of Tinkerbell. The rise of the Floodborn will include at least four more: The Queen, Commanding Presence; Cinderella, Bold; Gaston, intellectual powerhouse; and Belle, hidden archer. All four present previously released characters with new ink colors, allowing them to be played in different types of decks than those sold at launch.

At least one new in-game skill will be added Disney Lorcana of The rise of the Floodborn, but it’s not very exciting. It’s called Resist, and it specifies how much damage a given character can ignore before taking actual damage to their health.

Disney Lorcana: Disney100 features six alternate art variants of popular cards from The first chapter.
