The Samsung Galaxy Ring may launch with the Galaxy Z Fold 6

Rumors about a new Samsung Galaxy Ring continue to gain momentum, but it will still take a few months before it arrives. The latest indication is that the smart ring won’t see the light of day until the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. 6.

This is reported by a South Korean outlet The Electric (through Android Authority). We know the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 launched in July 2023, so you’d think the Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Ring would arrive around July 2024.

Maybe not: in addition to suggesting that the smart ring will arrive at the same time as the foldable, it also mentions the third quarter of 2024, indicating that both devices could launch in August, September or October.

The Elec then says that an early 2025 launch of the Galaxy Ring is also a possibility. It seems like there’s still a lot of uncertainty about how soon the device will be ready for the consumer market.

Four sizes

The second half of 2024 or early 2025 is a little later than we expected. Previous rumors had pegged the launch date as January 2024, which would have meant the smart ring would launch at the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

We’ve also seen photos of the wearable in Samsung apps, another indication that it’s about to launch. That said, other reports that the Galaxy Ring is in production stages have also mentioned a 2024 release.

There are a few more facts to be learned from the article on The Elec. Apparently there is only one model of the Samsung Galaxy Ring in production, although it will be available in four sizes to fit as many finger types as possible.

Additionally, Samsung is also considering seeking medical approval for the device, it seems: that would mean regulatory approval for measurements taken by various sensors (such as a heart rate sensor), and could push the launch date further.
