The Samsung Galaxy Ring took the wearables world by storm, with the product putting this smartwatch alternative in the spotlight – and helping to generate more interest from competitors in the top smart ring category from the likes of Oura and RingConn. Now it looks like Samsung is gearing up to launch an upgrade to this product line soon, with one tipster’s comments sounding like we could see the Galaxy Ring 2 quite soon.
Korean ‘leaker’ Lanzuk – who is known for spoiling Samsung’s release plans – says that Samsung “plans to launch its Galaxy Ring 2 model a little earlier than originally planned” (translated from Korean). The details are still unclear, but that could mean we’ll get a Galaxy Ring 2 in 2025, and maybe even in the first half of the year.
To be fair, the Galaxy Ring was first shown in January 2024, so an early announcement of the Galaxy Ring 2 was also planned. However, we only got our hands on the Galaxy Ring in July, so in 2025, for example, we could get the Galaxy Ring 2 in February instead of having to wait six months.
Alternatively, Samsung could stick to a more abbreviated reveal and release schedule sometime in the middle of the year (May or June, for example), especially since a refresh after just six months could upset buyers of the original Galaxy Ring. Annual renewals are expected. However, a biennial renewal is less likely to occur.
There will also be ‘More functions’
In addition to teasing the release date, Lanzuk added that the device will likely be thinner, have longer battery life, and include “more features.” Again, details are light, but this could include sleep apnea detection, expanded gesture controls, or improved fitness tools.
Perhaps it will also include the adaptive sizing feature teased by a recently granted Samsung patent, although we’ll have to wait and see what’s announced.
On this note, as with all leaks, we should take Lanzuk’s blog post and our speculation with a grain of salt. Until Samsung makes an announcement, we don’t know what we’ll get from the Galaxy Ring 2, nor when it will release, assuming it ever does.
