The safest suburbs across the country have now been revealed in data that analyzes levels of violent crime, property crime, vehicular deaths and drug poisoning deaths in 370 suburbs of the 100 largest cities.
Great Falls, Virginia was crowned the safest suburb in the country by SmartAsset’s analysis.
This affluent Washington DC suburb has the second lowest violent crime rate in the country, just 6.81 per 100,000 residents, as well as the eighth lowest vehicular fatality rate at 4.35 road deaths per 100,000 residents.
It offers great access to the stunning natural beauty of Great Falls National Park and the rich culture of metropolitan Washington DC just 18 miles away.

The district contains a number of highly regarded schools, including Langley High School and a public library.
Fairfax County, the district of Great Falls, also has the highest median household income at $250,000, according to the U.S. Census.
Just tapped to the pole and in second place is Carmel, an Indianapolis suburb.
The nearby suburbs of Fishers and Noblesville rank fourth and fifth, respectively.
These suburbs offer an attractive mix of being very safe and also scoring well on affordability.
Housing costs in each of the four listed Indiana suburbs are less than 17.5% of the median household income.
Ranked third for safety is the Maryland suburb of Bethesda.
Bethesda has a low drug poisoning death rate of just 12.4 people per 100,000 residents, but its property crime rate is significantly higher than others that were shortlisted.

The Washington DC suburb also has the 10th lowest rate of excessive drinking (14.57 percent) and one of the lowest vehicle fatality rates in our study, at 4.98 deaths per 100,000 residents. That ranks 27th out of all 370 suburbs analyzed.
Boston suburbs have the lowest rates of fatal car accidents. Lexington, Somerville and Chelsea, in Massachusetts, placed first, second and fourth for least suburban fatalities, with fewer than four fatalities per 100,000 residents.
