The Royal Family’s most relatable parenting moments: Princess Diana tells Prince William off on sports day, Prince Louis pulls faces at Kate and Princess Anne has a stern word with Zara

They may live a royal life with palaces and titles, but sometimes the royal family proves that they are just like us.

In a scene many parents are used to, Zara and Mike Tindall had to tell three-year-old son Lucas off after he was caught fighting with his older sister Lena, six, at last month’s Burghley Horse Trials.

The former England rugby player was forced to break up the mischievous youngsters.

And they are not the first royals to misbehave. In 1983, Princess Anne was pictured pointing her finger and talking to Zara, who was about two years old at the time.

Meanwhile, Prince William, aged four, was spotted with a solemn look on his face after joining a polo club in 1987.

Read on below to find examples of how no one is perfect at parenting — not even the royal family.

Prince William

Prince William, then just four years old, attended the Guards Polo Club in Windsor with his mother, Princess Diana, in 1987.

The young prince was photographed walking in a light blue coat, with his eyes wide open and frowning.

He seemed upset after being told he was up to mischief.

William was also seen sitting on the knee of the then Princess of Wales as she comforted him.

Prince Louis

During the belated celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, Prince Louis showed several funny expressions while sitting next to his mother.

At one point the boy turned to Kate, stuck out his tongue and held his hand to his nose.

In another instance, he put his hand over the mouth of the Princess of Wales as they watched a procession from the royal box.

Prince William is sassy

Prince William was quite rude in his younger years, especially towards his teachers.

During a games lesson on the playing fields of Richmond, the then six-year-old prince pinched your buttocks.

The moment made the front page of the Daily Mail, where it read ‘his blonde teacher gave him a stern slap’ and afterwards William ‘looked shocked and suitably chastened’.

Despite the incident, the youngster subsequently enjoyed playing tennis and football with his class before returning to school.

Princess Diana and Willem

Princess Diana had to intervene and send William away after he took part in a game of tag at his school’s sports day in Richmond, Surrey in 1990.

The Princess of Wales was caring for her youngest son, Harry, when William snuck away to play with his friends.

After shouting back at him without success, the Mail reported at the time how she ‘marched her naughty son away from sports day at Wetherby School’ and disciplined him.
