Full spoilers for The Rings of Power season 1 to follow. Potential spoilers for season 2 are also rolling in.

Celebrimbor actor Charles Edwards wants The Rings of Power season 2 to introduce a deeply incised dwarf character — then explore their friendship in more detail.

In an exclusive conversation with TechRadar ahead of The Rings of Power episode 8, Edwards revealed how excited he would be if the next entry to the high-fantasy Prime Video series featured another dwarf from Middle-earth’s Second Age. The person in question? Narvi, who shares a close friendship with Celebrimbor after the duo collaborated on the Doors of Durin, Khazad-dûm’s famed West Gate.

This entrance was built by the two smiths in the Second Age, allowing trade and trade routes between Khazad-dûm and Eregion during a prosperous period in elves-dwarf relations. However, it was sealed during the War of the Elves and Sauron, ending ties between the kingdoms. In the third era, it becomes the entry point for Frodo and his company to enter the Mines of Moria in The Fellowship of the Ring.

Lord of the Rings fans already know that the second season of The Rings of Power will be the live-action debut of another elf character. That person is Cirdan the Shipbuilder, one of the oldest elves in existence and who has been given one of the titular Rings of Power. Cirdan is sure to receive one of those pieces of jewelry after the three elven rings were forged in the season finale of The Rings of Power.

Understandably, Edwards is excited to see the introduction of Cirdan in a live-action capacity. However, he would be just as excited, if not more so, to see Narvi make their debut on the Lord of the Rings TV show. Little is mentioned in the source material about the pair’s close bond, so seeing another elf-dwarf friendship through Celebrimbor and Narvi on-screen would make for a fascinating look.

As exciting as Narvi’s involvement in The Rings of Power season 2 might be, however, Edwards isn’t sure if the dwarf character could make an appearance in the next series of episodes of the Prime Video show. Primarily, a lot would depend on whether the show’s writers and Amazon have the rights to cast Narvi in their lap.

“That [Narvi’s introduction] would be great,’ said Edwards. “I mean, whether the rights allow it, I don’t know. I can’t remember when Narvi is mentioned, or if he’s allowed in.

“But I think the creation of the doors [of Durin] will be something wonderful, fleeting though it may be. A lot of people don’t know who Celebrimbor really is, but they know The Lord of the Rings, and they know the doors of The Fellowship of the Ring. So it would be pretty cool — and Celebrimbor’s name is on the door too, so yeah Narvi’s introduction would be pretty cool to explore.”
