Project star Georgie Tunny has paid tribute to her ‘idol’ and ‘mentor’ Lisa Miller after the ABC News Breakfast presenter announced her resignation live on radio on Wednesday.

Tunny, 33, shared a gallery of snaps of her former colleague on Instagram, along with a touching caption.

“My idol, my mentor, my therapist, my friend. What a dream we have been living since you joined ABC News Breakfast all those moons ago I am SO happy for you!!!” Tunny wrote.

“The best is yet to come thank you for being a part of my tv family and my forever family x,” she continued.

Tunny joined the ABC in 2012 and became a sports presenter on News Breakfast in 2015, before leaving in 2021.

Meanwhile, Millar, 55, first presented ABC News Breakfast in 2018 and became a regular presenter alongside Michael Rowland the following year.

Millar announced live on air on Wednesday that she is leaving ABC News Breakfast after five years as co-host of the show.

Her last day with the program is Friday, August 23.

“What an amazing past five years it has been, whether it was interviewing prime ministers and international opinion makers or getting karaoke encouragement from my childhood idol Gladys Knight,” Millar said on Wednesday’s programme.

‘In 35 years of journalism, I have never done anything so exciting, unpredictable and fun. It only worked because of the amazing team behind the cameras and behind the scenes who kept me laughing.’

Millar will remain with the national broadcaster in a project-based role.
