Rachel Corbett has announced she is pregnant with her first child.
The 41-year-old journalist shared the exciting news on Wednesday’s broadcast of The Project, leaving her co-hosts Waleed Aly, Carrie Bickmore and Peter Helliar excited.
“I can’t hold it in any longer because the wardrobe department is tired of hiding it,” Rachel began.
Rachel Corbett has announced she is pregnant with her first child. The journalist, 41, shared the exciting news on Wednesday’s broadcast of The Project, causing her co-hosts Waleed Aly, Carrie Bickmore and Peter Helliar to lose their words.
“I’m pregnant,” she continued, throwing her hands in the air.
The panel then launched confetti into the sky as they congratulated the long-serving star.
“I do it alone, which is great for me, but when you tell people it’s hilarious because they think it’s a last resort,” she said.
Carrie seemed surprised by the confession.
“I’m pregnant,” she continued, throwing her hands in the air
Rachel continued, “Then spend the next 30 minutes explaining that you don’t cry yourself to sleep at night. But for me it’s the perfect decision.’
“It feels like just the right thing to do and I’m really excited.”
Rachel ended by saying she’s having a girl.
‘I do it alone. That’s great for me, but when you tell people it’s hilarious because they think it’s a last resort,” she said.
A number of fans were only too happy to express their love for Rachel.
‘This is fricken huuuuuge!!!!’ one fan wrote, while another added, ‘Welcome to the solo mom community. All the best with your pregnancy.
“Congratulations Rachel. Happy for you. You will be a great mother,” wrote another.

Rachel rarely reveals news about herself, but did say she lost her mother after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Rachel spoke candidly about the emotional loss during the show in 2020.
‘My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s around 2005-2006. She kept it hidden from us because I honestly think there was a part of her that was embarrassed or embarrassed,” she said.

“Towards the end of the illness it got really scary. She became a very different person than I knew, but she was definitely still so present.
“You could see this person struggling and lost and scared and trapped in her own mind.”
She wept and continued, “I remember reading that it’s been about 10 years for people to live with the disease.
“It was about that time when Mama died. I just feel like a really great, vibrant, positive, brilliant woman was taken too soon.”
Rachel’s mother died in 2015, at the age of 68, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in her late 50s. Rachel is pictured with her mother
