The Project gives a major hint about the next two panelists who will leave the show ahead of its cast overhaul — following the shocking exits of Carrie Bickmore, Lisa Wilkinson, and Peter Helliar

The project may be gearing up to say goodbye to two more panelists following the shock departures of Carrie Bickmore, Lisa Wilkinson, and Peter Helliar.

On Wednesday, Channel 10 announced that Studio 10 co-host Sarah Harris is joining The Project to replace Bickmore.

In the official press release to confirm Sarah’s spot on the show, two longtime panelists were notably absent.

Tommy Little and Steve Price were not named in the announcement, while Hamish Blake, Waleed Aly and Georgie Tunny would all return.

“I am beyond excited to be taking part in one of Australia’s most iconic and calendar racing shows,” Sarah said in her statement.

“The Project brings news like no other program in Australia and it’s just the kind of fun and fearless TV I love to make,” she continued.

‘I can’t wait to share the desk with Waleed, Hamish, Georgie and the rest of the team. I feel like shaking it up in the new year!”

Channel 10 has also released a new promotional image for the series showing Waleed and Sarah posing together, confirming they will serve as the main presenters of The Project.

Price has been on The Project since 2010, while Little joined in 2017.

Peter Helliar, 47, announced on Tuesday that he was leaving The Project, explaining that he decided to quit following the departure of his co-host Carrie Bickmore in October.

“Carrie, you said the other day that you’re glad you’re leaving The Project now that you still love it and I still love the show. Really,’ he explained.

‘The project means a lot to me. It has done great things for me. I interviewed Luke Skywalker once… and I look forward to seeing what the show will be like in the future.”

It comes after Wilkinson announced she was stepping down immediately.

The embattled TV presenter, 62, made the shocking confession at the end of Sunday night’s episode, leaving viewers stunned.

“I’ve decided it’s time to re-prioritize a few things in my life,” the TV veteran began alongside The Bachelor co-hosts Hamish Macdonald and Laura Byrne.

“And after nearly 15 years of early breakfast TV, and now another five years here at The Project desk, I’m looking at how I want the next few years to play out both professionally and personally.”
