Private sector companies accounted for a greater share of defense production in the 2023-2024 period than they have in at least eight years.
Even as defense exports have reached record levels, an analysis of Defense Ministry manufacturing data shows that private sector companies accounted for Rs 16,411 crore, or a 22 percent share of the total defense production of Rs 74,739 crore in 2023-24 (FY24). . This is their largest share of data going back to 2016-2017. The most recent data is from March 5.
