The Pop Group guitarist John Waddington dies at age 63 as band pays tribute to ‘unforgettable musician’
The Pop Group guitarist John Waddington has died at the age of 63.
The band announced the news on Twitter on Wednesday, paying a heartfelt tribute to the “unforgettable musician.”
They wrote in a statement, “As an influential musician and an integral member of the group, John contributed to some of the band’s most iconic recordings.
“His energy and friendship will be sorely missed, and his unforgettable musicianship will always be remembered.”
John’s cause of death has not yet been released.

The band went on to talk about John’s talent as a guitarist as they shared a photo of him on stage.
They said, ‘John played on ‘Y’ and ‘For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder?’, The Pop Group’s first two albums, and later joined Maximum Joy for their debut album ‘Station MXJY’.
John continued to make memorable appearances on Judy Nylon records and On-U Sound affiliated projects, including New Age Steppers and African Head Charge. His energy and friendship will be sorely missed, and his unforgettable musicianship will always be remembered.”
