The police notice on the MLA’s poaching allegation does not mention FIR: Atishi

She said at a press conference that they sympathize with the crime branch officers who are forced by their ‘political bosses’ to indulge in such ‘theatrics’.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Sunday said the notice sent to her by the city police in connection with the MLA poaching raised by her does not mention any FIR or contain any criminal provisions.

She said at a press conference that they sympathize with the crime branch officers who are forced by their ‘political bosses’ to indulge in such ‘theatrics’.

“Yesterday (Saturday), the Crime Branch of Delhi Police sent a notice to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Today they sent me a message. However, the message makes no mention of an FIR. It does not even contain any section of IPC (Indian Penal Code) or CrPC (Criminal Procedure Code) or PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) or Prevention of Corruption Act,” she said.

A team from the Crime Branch of Delhi Police visited Atishi’s house on Sunday and served her a notice in connection with an allegation that the BJP was trying to “poach” AAP MLAs.

Police sources said the Delhi Chief Minister’s staff received the message after the Crime Branch team visited her residence for the second time at 12.55 pm on Sunday.

According to the notice, the Crime Branch has asked Kejriwal and Atishi to provide information regarding the poaching allegation against the BJP as their comments indicate that they are aware of certain information regarding the commission of a cognizable crime.

They have been asked to respond to the message before February 5.

On Saturday, Crime Branch officials served a notice to Kejriwal, asking him to reply within three days in connection with an inquiry into his claims that the BJP was trying to poach seven AAP MLAs.

The notices were issued after Kejriwal and Atishi alleged on January 27 that the BJP was trying to poach AAP MLAs by offering Rs 25 crore each and a ticket for next year’s assembly elections to topple the AAP government.

The BJP rejected the allegations, terming them ‘false’ and ‘baseless’ and challenged the chief minister to provide evidence to substantiate the claims.
