The moment Love Island fans have been waiting for has almost finally arrived, with Season 10 finally kicking off on Monday.

To celebrate the upcoming launch, a man has used AI to create the “perfect” Love Island contestants.

Duncan Thomsen, 53, a freelance film editor from Brighton, flipped back through all the previous nine series to see which couples have won the show so far.

Then, using AI, he blended photos of the winners together to create generic islanders based solely on their appearance.

To create the perfect Love Islanders, Duncan used Midjourney software, via the Discord application.

While Duncan asked the software to piece together photos of all of the show’s past winners, he explained that it was a lengthy process, as the AI requires an “absolute description.”

He said: ‘I took all the photos and images from the previous winners and put them together.

That resulted in a range of different looks and generated a variety of generic contestants.

‘I then added details of nationality and race and played with aspects such as colour, brightness, effect, style and background.

‘I had to make the pictures look like they came straight from ITV – like they’d been on the show.

“It took me about a day to do them all.

“I think they seem like very real people.

“It’s just another great example of what AI is capable of, and the thought of a virtual Love Island is hilarious.

‘[The show] is fake enough on TV, so I don’t think that aspect matters much!’

Duncan believes an AI version of the program could even air in the future.

He said, “I predict an AI version of Love Island will soon be broadcasting on our screens using islanders like the one I created.

“People are going to vote for a couple that doesn’t even exist!”

His creations come shortly after AI was asked to create the ‘perfect’ man and woman – and it suggests that gentlemen prefer blondes, while women like ‘tall, dark and handsome’ men.

The Bulimia Project, an eating disorder awareness group, asked AI to produce the ‘perfect’ male and female bodiesaccording to what gets the most engagement on social media.

Researchers from the organization found that the most desirable women had blonde hair, olive skin, brown eyes, and slender figures, while the “perfect” man had dark, smoldering eyes, chiseled cheekbones, and defined muscles.

Most of the AI results seemed to conform to outdated beauty standards — white yet tanned, slim yet muscular, and overwhelmingly blonde — hinting at the tool’s implicit biases.
