The people’s champ strikes again! Daisy Thomas’ extraordinary act of kindness for battling St Kilda fan who was in the doghouse with his girlfriend
- Ran into the fan outside an elevator at Marvel Stadium
- The man had problems with his partner because of his choice of pants
- Thomas did what any good guy would do
Dale ‘Daisy’ Thomas has done a lot in his life, he’s an AFL champion, a children’s book author and now he’s saved a St Kilda fan from his girlfriend’s wrath by giving him his pants.
The former Carlton star and Collingwood champion and I’m a celebrity…Get me out of here! participant happened to be in the right place at the right time for the lucky Saints supporter at Marvel Stadium on Saturday evening.
The man had traveled from Perth with his girlfriend to watch the Saints’ nail-biting win over the Gold Coast Suns, but his choice of clothing landed him in the doghouse – until Daisy arrived to save the day.
“I just got to Marvel Stadium and my boy here is trying to get into the Medallion Club,” he said in a video recorded in a public bathroom at the stadium.
‘He’s really shaken up in his trousers, so we’re going to swap trousers. The people’s champion strikes again!’
Thomas saw the fan in an elevator and came to his rescue by trading pants with him
The fan had arrived at Marvel Stadium wearing St Kilda tracksuit bottoms, meaning he had no access to the Medallion Club
Daisy later told radio network Triple M why he swapped pants with the Saints fan.
“I swapped a pair of jeans for a set of trakkie daks from St Kilda,” he said.
‘Because the young gentleman had come over from Perth, I was about to get off the lift and he was about to get into the lift, and his wife had asked him why he was wearing Trakkie trousers, as she told him not to do that. Unpleasant.
“They were St Kilda [supporters] and they went to the Medallion Club, but they couldn’t because he didn’t have the right dress code.”
Thomas and the Saints fan exchanged numbers so they could catch up later and trade the pants back
The Medallion Club at Marvel Stadium is an exclusive membership program that provides premium seating and hospitality options for fans attending events at the stadium.
Members enjoy luxury amenities such as access to private dining rooms, bars and lounges, reserved seating with sweeping views of the action, priority ticketing for major events and exclusive networking opportunities.
But because the fan had been wearing his team’s track pants, he was denied entry.
“So I said come with me mate, I’ll trade you my jeans for your St Kilda trakkie daks… I gave him my trousers,” Daisy said.
“Spent the rest of the night in his.”
In another act of generosity, Daisy gave the fan his phone number so the two could catch up later and trade their pants back.
“We’re going to have a chat, he’s going to buy me a beer and trade the pants back.”
