Pac-Man 99the Battle Royale version of the classic Pac-Man gameplay available through Nintendo Switch Online will be discontinued in October, Publisher Bandai Namco announced this on Tuesday. That’s when online services for the 99-player game go offline, but Switch owners who paid for the game’s DLC (Pac-Man 99 Luxury package or Pac-Man 99 Mode Unlock) it can still play offline against the CPU and in other modes.
News from Pac-Man 99The closure comes two years after the battle royale game was released on Switch as an incentive to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online. Pac-Man 99 is developed by Arika, the same studio behind another Battle Royale spin on a classic game, Tetris 99. Publisher Bandai Namco gave no reason for closing the game.
Here’s how the closure of Pac-Man 99 will roll out:
- August 8 – Sales of paid custom themes are discontinued
- September 8 – Sale of Pac-Man 99 Deluxe package and Pac-Man 99 Mode Unlock is discontinued
- October 8 — Discontinuation of online services for the main game and distribution of the main game and free custom themes
After October 8 Pac-Man 99 Players who have purchased the Deluxe Pack of Mode Unlock can only play CPU Battle mode, Blind Time Attack and Score Attack in offline mode.
