The youngest Culkin sibling, Rory, now 34, was also a child star, co-starring with Oscar winners Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix in the 2002 film Signs, as well as in his brothers’ films Igby Goes Down and Richie Rich, in which they played younger versions of their characters.

Since then, he has achieved worldwide acting success in films and TV, including Scream 4, Swarm and Black Mirror.

Kieran beat co-stars Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong to win Best Actor at the Golden Globes, saying in his speech: ‘This isn’t mine, this is one for the team. It’s been said, but this show is a team effort.”

Succession, which first aired in 2018, follows the story of the murderous Roy family, led by Brian’s character Logan, as they battle for control of the world’s largest media conglomerate when the patriarch steps down.

Last May, the show reached its fourth season finale.

The actor started his speech as hilariously as predicted when he said, “Oh, nightmare! Ugh! Sit down! Boy, thank you. Sorry, I’m belching indigestion. I didn’t have to say that.

‘For the rest, this is a great moment for me. I already ruined it. You’re right. You said, “Just say thank you and go away.” You’re right. I was nominated for a Golden Globe just like I was 20 years ago, and when that moment was over, I remember thinking, I’m never coming back into this room. That’s fine, whatever. But thanks to Succession I’ve been here a few times already.’

He then poked fun at fellow nominee Pedro Pascal.

Kieran continued: “It’s nice, but I expected I would never be on stage, so this is a nice moment. Suck it, Pedro. (Laughter) Mine! Very quickly I would like to thank everyone at Succession. Our writers, the amazing cast, everyone who showed up and believed in this thing and it was really cool.

“This isn’t mine, this is one for the team. I know, wrap it up. I just want to quickly thank three amazing women in my management, without whom I wouldn’t have a career, my wife Jazz, for putting up with this and everything that comes with it, and my amazing mother. Mom, thank you so much for doing everything you did for us. You are a wonderful woman. Okay, that’s it.’
