The OnePlus 12 gets three confirmed colors – and one retro rumor
We know the OnePlus 12 will be unveiled on December 4, and we now also know what colors it will be available in – and there’s also talk of a more retro-inspired finish to the body making a return too.
On the Chinese social media site Weibo (through Notebook control), OnePlus has confirmed that we’ll be getting black, green and white colors for the upcoming flagship, with black and green returning from the OnePlus 11 that launched early this year.
“The three colors we have carefully polished are not only the three most popular colors among users, but they are also gifts of time and growth,” OnePlus says in its post (via Google Translate, which may not be entirely accurate).
We haven’t had many official confirmations about this phone, but the colors are one of them now, as is the launch date: we’ll see the phone launch in China on December 4, with a global rollout likely sometime early in the month. 2024.
Wood effect housing back?
In the meantime, the prolific tipster Digital Chat Station has also started working Weibo to tease a woodgrain finish for the rear of the OnePlus 12 – something we previously saw on the OnePlus One back in 2014.
On the original OnePlus phone, the wood effect was available as a replaceable back cover for the handset. It’s not clear if OnePlus will do that again here, or if it will be a more conventional case with a wooden effect.
Still, it seems to be a nod to ten years of OnePlus phones, and gives users another option for the OnePlus phone’s finish. In a week and a while all will be revealed, and we will of course cover the event as it happens.
In terms of other rumors we’ve heard about this device, it looks like the OnePlus 12 will have a familiar rear camera, better protection against dust and water, and a larger battery capacity than its immediate predecessor.
