The portable monitor turned heads at CES 2024 with its bizarre modular display system that can combine several displays to turn your laptop into a five-screen monster.
The startup has launched three new products in an attempt to one of the best portable monitor makers at the show, including the foldable 24-inch offering, the Twins, in addition to a device with two sliding 14-inch screens, the Flex, and a single 15.6-inch screen, called the Mono.
But the company has turned heads with a specific demonstration featuring two 14-inch Flex displays – connecting two of them to one laptop via two USB-C connections to expand it with four additional displays. The result is a total five-screen display for multi-directional productivity.
Release the beast
While adding four additional displays does somewhat undermine the portability of, say, just one of these devices, it is an option for users who may not have access to multiple monitors in the workplace or at home.
The Flex contains two full-HD LED IPS screens with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and a brightness of 300 nits, the manufacturer claims. The display, which also has a contrast ratio of 1000:1, works on only one USB-C connection. The device also weighs 1.95 kg and its dimensions are 208 x 305 x 30 mm.
This device is compatible with all major systems including Mac, Windows, Linux – and Android – although converting the screens to portrait mode is only compatible with Windows.
The Flex is a slightly larger successor to the 13.3-inch Slide model, which weighs 2 kg but is only 20 mm thick. The 15.6-inch Mono, on the other hand, weighs just 700 grams and has a thickness of 7.6 mm, as it only offers a single screen.
This single-screen system is comfortable with PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox and Switch, but can also be adapted to the iPhone using a power adapter that is not sold separately.
The Twins, meanwhile, offers potential customers a much larger portable display thanks to its foldable nature. The startup is targeting this primarily at professionals and creatives, who may need a much larger canvas without sacrificing portability.
