The Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a) are Nothing’s latest wireless earbuds, which were unveiled earlier this month – and updates are already underway, with an upgrade to Transparency mode coming soon.
That’s the word from Nothing CEO Carl Pei, who says the improvements will be “noticeable”. He also asks users to continue to provide feedback on the wireless earbuds so that further adjustments can be made in the future.
In our Nothing Ear(a) review, we were hugely impressed with what the earbuds had to offer, praising the ‘excellent’ sound quality, comfort, battery life and noise-cancelling technology – and the $99/£99 (about AU $192) price.
The Nothing Ear earbuds are slightly more expensive at $149 / £129 (about AU$250), but both feature a Transparency mode that you can use if you want to hear what’s going on around you without taking the earbuds out.
Available soon
Noticeable improvements to transparency mode for Ear and Ear (a) are coming soon. Thanks for all the feedback so far, keep it coming!April 26, 2024
We didn’t notice any issues with Transparency Mode when we tested the Nothing Ear (a), and we didn’t see any widespread complaints from other users – but it’s always good to see improvements and enhancements added via software updates.
The Transparency mode is perfect if, for example, you are chatting face-to-face with someone and want to leave the earbuds in your ears. The built-in microphones transmit sounds from your environment so you can hear what the other person is saying.
Pei didn’t provide a timeline for when the update for the earbuds might arrive, only that it would be “soon.” There’s also no indication of what other tweaks could be included in the same software update when the time comes.
We consider both the Nothing Ear and the Nothing Ear(a) to be among the best wireless earbuds on the market today, and if they receive regular software updates over time, they will continue to do so. better.
