Arsenal once again recalled their title credentials with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Martin Odegaard’s penalty in the second half was the difference between the teams after Sam Johnstone fouled Eddie Nketiah after a well-taken free-kick by Gabriel Martinelli.
Roy Hodgson’s side did not give up and kept the pressure on the Gunners’ goal – especially after Takehiro Tomiyasu was shown a controversial second yellow card for pulling Jordan Ayew’s shirt.
Mikel Arteta’s side was resilient, however, putting together two wins from two in the Premier League this season.
below, ISAAN KHAN from Mail Sport outlines some of the things you may have missed from the southwest London clash.

Ramsdale’s double dose of pressure
Gareth Southgate appeared in the stands next to Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish.
The England manager’s affection for the club stems from his playing time, which began at Selhurst Park.
But more importantly, he was there to watch his national team players, including Ebere Eze and Bukayo Saka.
One can only imagine goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale feeling double-barreled pressure as new signing David Raya made his first appearance on the Arsenal bench. Raya also has a lot of attention for the number 1 spot of the Gunners.

Arteta holds cards close to his chest
Mikel Arteta is adept at keeping cards close to his chest after saying last week there would be no departure, even though his team roster said otherwise last night.
Again, Gabriel started on the bench amid reported interest from Saudi Arabia and Real Madrid, while Kieran Tierney failed to make the squad.
Tierney’s absence was not a major shock given the sheer number of full-back options already in place at the club.
But Gabriel’s omission was particularly notable as he was an integral part of Arteta’s team last season. The couple’s future certainly seems uncertain.

Crystal Palace fans enjoyed mocking Chelsea after Michael Olise turned down their interest
Palace fans mock Chelsea for Olise’s disapproval
It was the first game here since Michael Olise turned down Chelsea to sign a four-year contract with Palace.
Glowing fans were then heard chanting ‘F*** off Chelsea, Olise is ours’.
Saka’s record-breaking longevity
Bukayo Saka now played in 82 consecutive Premier League games for Arsenal, equaling Paul Merson’s record between 1995-1997.
