The Nintendo Switch 2 could be unveiled
- There’s no shortage of Nintendo Switch 2 leaks
- An industry analyst predicts that Nintendo will soon unveil the console to combat them
- A January unveiling is a possibility
Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be unveiled before March 31, 2025, but we’ve had virtually no other information that could pinpoint a concrete date. While it seems all but guaranteed that the time has now passed for the console to be unveiled in 2025, one industry analyst thinks an early January reveal could be on the cards.
Speak with EurogamerSerkan Toto, CEO of industry consultancy Kantan Games, stated that “Nintendo won’t have much time in January, so a possible announcement early in the month could make sense.”
Interestingly enough, Toto predicts that the spate of recent Nintendo Switch 2 leaks could impact the reveal. “Rest assured that Nintendo is aware of all the leaks and is not happy about them,” he said. He then added that “they could result in Nintendo releasing information earlier than planned.”
As for what exactly has been leaked so far, there’s so much that it’s almost difficult to summarize in a format that would fit on this page. We recently learned that the console could come in an absolutely hideous-sounding orange and blue color scheme.
There’s also no shortage of details about the supposed design, including the overall look of the stand, the fact that the Joy-Con controllers are magnetically attached, and the presence of the mysterious new ‘C’ button on the right controller. We may even already know the console’s official name: simply ‘Nintendo Switch 2’ if the latest leaks are to be believed.
Combine all this with the few bits of official information we’ve received, such as confirmation that the console will be backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch software, and you have a pretty good idea of the yet-unrevealed system.
It makes perfect sense that Nintendo would want to prevent any more leaks by dropping the first trailer soon, but we’ll have to wait and see if that January prediction comes true.
