If you have a Pixel phone like the Google Pixel 8, you’ll be treated to additional software updates beyond the usual Android upgrades – and we’ve got some clues as to what could happen in the next Pixel feature release.
According to a detailed analysis of the latest Android beta code of Android Centralit looks like there are some nifty tweaks and additions coming to Pixel phones, covering everything from Bluetooth to screen recording.
As for Bluetooth, you can apparently tap the Quick Settings tile to quickly switch between Bluetooth devices, rather than having to delve into Settings. Speaking of Quick Settings tiles, you can also share Wi-Fi credentials with other people just by tapping the button Internet choice.
When it comes to user privacy, it looks like the next Pixel drop will make it easier to see which apps are currently using the microphone and camera, and to quickly unlink any apps you don’t want to have access to. from your phone.
Notifications and updates
Other changes concern notifications: it looks like you’ll get the option to hide notifications while you’re mirroring your screen or recording something happening on the screen, which is good news if you do that regularly.
According to the report, updates will be installed faster after the software upgrade is rolled out. Android updates already happen in the background to minimize disruption to the user, but this can be quite a slow process. Thanks to some technical tricks, downloading and installation should be faster in the future.
Other changes apparently on the way (unless Google changes its mind) include a search box on the taskbar, minor updates to the way battery management is handled, and more information about the weather lock screen’s clock.
As Android Central notes, not every new feature in a Pixel drop is explicitly mentioned by Google, so it’s important to be aware of what’s coming so you don’t miss anything. The update is expected to roll out sometime in May.
