The new Minecraft game absolutely nails what’s special about the original

As I sat back and watched the walkthrough of Minecraft Legendsthe strategy game take on the blocky sandbox game, I couldn’t help but think it was one of the best things Mojang has produced in years.
Equivalent to halo wars 2, Minecraft Legends is a real-time strategy that takes on one of Microsoft’s biggest series. In addition to a single-player campaign where you raise an army to battle an invasion from the dark Nether, Minecraft Legends offers 2v2 multiplayer. Each battle will be different as each card is procedurally generated just like the Minecraft campaign. In multiplayer, you must team up with friends or powerful strangers and work together to repel the onslaught of both humans and AI, with the ultimate goal of destroying the enemy base.
As you try to tear apart the enemy base, you’ll be regularly harassed by the flighty and short-faced Piglins running across the map. These threats come from the depths of the fiery hellscape of the underworld. In the Minecraft Legends walkthrough, Nathan Rose, the chief production manager for Mojang studios, said the Piglins are “on their own side.”
The raging pigs are not the only gangs you can encounter Minecraft Legends. In fact, there are a lot of monsters you can find. Once enemies, many overworld creatures, such as the explosive Creepers and bony skeletons, are now on your side. You’ll need to build out your base to recruit them to your side, but just like in games like Pikmin and Halo Wars, you can command this army to take on your enemies.
There are also several creative new additions to it Minecraft Legends. The Plank Golem, which acts as a small wooden box that you can follow and shoot the arrows stored inside, or the magnificent purple Regal Tiger that you can saddle up and ride around the map, are just a few of the newly added mobs to this chaotic strategy game.
Strategic chaos
On the surface, Minecraft Legends similar to many other strategy games; the goals and activities within this blocky world are pretty standard. I’ve never been a fan of using this kind of brainpower during games, but the whimsical polygonal tigers on offer just might break my habit.
The first thing I noticed were the procedurally generated worlds Minecraft Legends; like the original campaign, it means you can have plenty of adventure. During the video tour (opens in new tab)Craig Leigh, Mojang’s chief design director, said sessions “will be different every time you play. Depending on how the map is generated, where the valleys are, where the mountains are, where the secrets are”.
The procedurally generated maps, coupled with the unfamiliar strategies and endless possibilities that come from each team’s creative minds, will Minecraft Legends fresh and fun to play.
The best part of this new PvP game for me is that it offers all the thrills of playing a multiplayer strategy game in addition to the exploration and creativity that Minecraft always encouraged. You don’t have to be the one to attack the enemy; here. It’s equally valid to build or explore your base so you can finally find that Regal Tiger you’ve always wanted.
Minecraft Legends will be a great addition to Mojang’s many titles. It adds more intensity and chaos to the usually calming environment of the vanilla campaign, while staying true to its love of creativity, adventure and cute mobs. Can’t wait to see how the unpredictable blocky strategy game will turn out.
