The new Helldivers 2 patch means you’ll change the way you take on super-armored Terminids

If you are one of the Hell divers 2 Players who have struggled to match up against the game’s powerful Terminids – specifically Chargers and Bile Titans – are in luck. Arrowhead Game Studios published a patch on Tuesday that adjusts the spawn rate of these two bugs. Crucially, Arrowhead said it hasn’t changed the overall difficulty: there will be fewer of these heavily armored enemies, but other bugs will appear “in greater numbers”. according to the patch notes.

Hell divers 2 players have devised a strategy online to take on Chargers (the huge Terminids that might as well be tanks) and Bile Titans (the supercharged, leggy versions of the Bile Spewers). The jump in difficulty from other enemies to this one is quite significant, and people have trouble taking them down reliably. Players have found ways to defeat the enemies – i.e. the ‘lega meta’, where people target a weak spot in the legs – but Arrowhead doesn’t want players to have to use their ‘heavy anti-tank weapons on legs instead of the obvious weak point.” Therefore, in addition to lowering the spawn rate of Chargers and Bile Titans on difficulty 7 and above, Arrowhead has lowered the health of the Charger’s head, making it a good place to target with powerful weapons.

“Along with the unfortunately undocumented change from the last patch that increased the armor penetration ability of less well-placed rounds for EAT-17s and Recoilless Rifle rounds, Chargers should now be easier to handle by well-equipped groups,” Arrowhead said.

In addition to the Terminid adjustments, Hell divers 2 players can also expect a number of UI, voiceover and bug fixes. Arrowhead also removed the “Electronic Countermeasures” modifier. (Technically, this was removed in the latest patch, but Arrowhead didn’t mention this in the patch notes.) The studio wants to rework the modifier: “We found that this modifier was not communicated clearly enough and overall caused more frustration. then excitement about the way it was currently implemented,” Arrowhead said.

Arrowhead ended its patch notes with a list of known issues Helldivers 2, including an issue that causes the game to crash when using a stim in an Exosuit. Here’s the full list, straight from Arrowhead:

  • The game crashes if you try to use a stim while in an Exosuit.
  • Pink artifacts may appear in the air when large explosions occur.
  • Automaton Dropship seemingly disappears and slides in after being shot.
  • Shots from bow-based weapons may not count towards kills in post-mission stats.
  • Players cannot unfriend other players who are friends via the friend code.
  • Cross-platform friend invitations may not appear in the Friend Requests tab.
  • Players may not be able to select equipment or return to the ship when participating in a multiplayer gaming session via the PS5 Activity Map.
  • The Exosuit can self-destruct with missiles if it fires while spinning.
  • The display of the text chat box is obstructed by the cinematic mailboxes during unpacking.
  • Some people can’t accept friend requests. This is usually a cross-platform issue
