The new AMD RX 7900 XTX variant requires massive 3x PCIe power connectors
XFX is gearing up to release a brand new version of the AMD Radeon RX 7900 , deviating from the standard two of the basic and partner models for the extra functionality.
Spotted by Video cardz, the upcoming Phoenix Nirvana RX 7900 The full model has yet to be fully revealed, however the teases of the map’s design are making a huge impression. Additionally, it would launch for $1,090, just $91 above MSRP.
Considering its length, it’s very likely that it’s a triple-fan graphics card, with that huge heatsink on top. There are claimed to be a total of eight 6mm heatpipes on board with a vapor chamber for the GPU and memory modules. From this information we can conclude that this variant will have a serious overclocking job, as we have already seen with the ASUS Tuf RX 7900 XTX, among others.
One of XFX’s more interesting claims regarding the upcoming Phoenix Nirvana variant is that it will use “premium thermal pads” for improved conductivity, the source said. This means the new graphics card could push overclocking further than what we’ve seen from competitors, especially considering the size of the heatsink on top.
However, you may have to do the overclocking yourself. The teased information states that the Phoenix Nirvana will be clocked similarly to the company’s existing Speedster Merc 319 at 2615MHz, which isn’t as fast as AMD partner cards as some versions can go up to 2800MHz.
The best graphics card for gamers just gets better
We haven’t been shy about our love for AMD’s RX 7900 XTX since its release almost two years ago. The flagship RDNA 3 offers great value for money with its competitive pricing and a huge 24GB memory pool. It’s by far the best graphics card for gamers who want to game in 4K, and it’s good to see that Team Red’s partners continue to support this card.
The prices, if right, might not be all that exciting. That’s because we’re now seeing many RDNA 3 GPUs, including the 7900 XTX, available at discounted prices – some are even seeing permanent discounts. If everything about the card’s design and speed were true, then it will likely offer class-leading thermal performance, even if it doesn’t push the limits of what we know it can do out of the box.
We recommend you read our full AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX review to get the full overview of the cards. Although RDNA 4 is on the way, there is still a lot to expect from the current crop of GPU hardware that we can take advantage of.
