The most eligible people in Britain: Tatler unveils its power players list

>

Successful, attractive and with the world at their feet, these people are currently the most eligible in Britain, according to Tatler magazine.

The British society bible has once again compiled a list of the 200 most in-demand women and men for its December issue, with footballer Mason Mount, Love Island star Gemma Owens and entrepreneur Steven Bartlett making the cut.

But alongside the household names there are some singletons most readers probably won’t recognise – from wealthy heirs and heiresses to budding photographers and fashionistas.

Tatler’s ‘Little Black Book’ gives a rundown of the unmarried up-and-coming movers and shakers everyone needs to know, including the Queen’s distant cousin Alexander Ogilvy, 25, who keeps a low profile despite his royal ties.

Another on the list is Lord Snowdon’s photographer son Jasper Cable-Alexander, 24, and Boris Johnson’s TikTok star niece Lula Johnson.

Here, FEMAIL reveals some of the lesser known – but no less desirable – singletons who make the cut…

The 26-year-old – who accompanied her grandmother to Buckingham Palace to pick up her DBE – is flourishing as a fashion model.

In 2015, outspoken Dame Vivienne complained she felt ignored by then teenage Cora after she sloped off on a skiing trip with friends instead of visiting the First Lady of punk’s show at London Fashion Week.

‘She should use me,’ said Dame Vivienne. ‘I’ll be dead and she will think: “What was that woman talking about?”’

A family friend told Vogue at the time that there was ‘no animosity’ and that Corré – who often shares photos with her grandmother to her social media account – was taking a break ahead of her A-levels.

Corré previously revealed her parents – designers Joe Corré and Serena Rees – were supportive of her love for fashion but had warned that she shouldn’t ‘get wrapped up in it’.

The former sales assistant is a constant supportive presence, but shuns the flashy WAG lifestyle and largely remains out of the spotlight to focus on their two children Mia and Flynn.

Gareth has spoken openly about how time with his wife and their two children helps to keep him sane away from the pitch and his own experience has long inspired his ‘family first’ strategy with the team.

He has also previously credited Mia for holding him to account over the amount of women involved in his side’s backroom staff.

In September 2021, Southgate questioned why only two women were part of his setup with England, reported ESPN.

Speaking at the Royal Television Society’s Cambridge Convention, Southgate, who coaches his  said: ‘I coach my daughter’s team and there’s a real enthusiasm for it.

‘Within the FA we are actually very diverse, gender wise, with 38 per cent female, I think. But as my daughter said to me: “Oh, that’s good is it, Dad?” I had to say: “Good point.”

‘For me that’s a great reminder. What world do I want for my daughter? What opportunities do I want for my daughter?

‘That very quickly changes your outlook on the way that you view women’s sport and the way you view opportunities for women within our sport.’

Based near Portobello Road, he is making a name for himself as a photographer – even if not everyone has got the memo.

He told The Mail On Sunday in 2021: ‘It’s funny – a few occasions on jobs I’ve been mistaken for the intern!’

His mother is former Country Life journalist Melanie Cable-Alexander, who embarked on an affair with Snowdon while he was married to his second wife Lucy Lindsay-Hogg.

Although Jasper describes himself as ‘the only child of a single mother’, he is in fact the fifth of Snowdon’s offspring.

In addition to Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto, his children with Princess Margaret, the Earl fathered a daughter before he married the Queen’s sister and later had a daughter with Ms Lindsay-Hogg.

Melanie famously appealed for child support from Snowdon after Jasper was born and the youngster was left £250,000 in the Earl’s will.

However, horse riding is her first passion and she told Paris Match: ‘Riding has a therapeutic dimension for me. I am in a bubble. I ignore everything.

She also chatted to the publication about her relationship with Hollywood actress Salma, saying: ‘She helps me in my everyday life.

She fills her Instagram – where she has 1,536 followers – with her photography work, as well as a few selfies.

Stella, who found fame in the early 1990s modelling for designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Versace, died in December 2020, five days after her 50th birthday.

The model took her own life after being ‘unwell for some time’, her family confirmed, according to the BBC in January 2021.

Her family said in a statement that it was a ‘a matter of our deepest sorrow and despair that she felt unable to go on.’

In December 2020, after Stella’s death, Lily took to Instagram and wrote: ‘My amazing Auntie Stella. It’s hard to put into words how much she meant to me and so many people.

‘She was funny, vibrant, supportive and incredibly loving. She was ambitious and driven but always down to earth and humble. She was truly original and always herself. A real force of nature.

‘She took me under her wing and was always there for me. I had the happiest lockdown spent with her and my cousins. We’d go for walks and bike rides and cook vegetables from the garden.

‘We’d all have dinner and lunch together everyday and have funny and interesting conversations. I’d dress up my cousins in her clothes and we’d do shoots in the garden. She dyed my hair blue.

‘Never a dull moment. Memories I will cherish forever. We love you so much auntie,’ Lily concluded.

The video showed the property consultant simply putting a plug in the bath before turning on both of the taps under the advice of her grandmother, who lived in Oxfordshire.

However people were underwhelmed with the advice, sarcastically teasing that the influencer was ‘very lucky’ that she was taught such a valuable lesson while others ‘have to learn the hard way’ to put in the plug.

‘You want to make sure you put the plug in,’ she said in the video.  ‘My grandmother in Oxfordshire taught me and my sister growing up, when we used to come visit from Hong Kong.’

Users were predictably baffled that the video had ended without more information on how to perfect a bath, with one writing: ‘Did the video get cut off? Cliffhanger! What’s the secret?’.

Others joked about the simplicity of the tutorial, sarcastically teasing that the influencer would need to do a ‘step by step guide’ to explain how to put the plug in the bath.

He also discussed his time in the British capital, saying: ‘London has and will always have my heart. I am captivated by the city’s vibrant energy and culture of positive, motivated individuals who are not afraid to dream and think big.

‘Having moved here from a small town where people were stuck and lived by convenience, London is the contrary… It’s a city I’m sure will be my home for the next 10 years or more.’

JESSE GRYLLS

Bear Grylls’ son Jesse had mostly kept a low profile up until recently. The budding musician and artist now often updates his Instagram account with his latest antics

Bear Grylls’ son Jesse has mostly kept a low profile – although the budding musician and artist now regularly updates his Instagram account with his latest antics.

Appearing to be determined to outdo his TV survival expert father when it comes to daredevil stunts, he shocked fans in October 2021 when he carried out a dangerous parachute jump from a bridge

The stomach-churning difference was that the chute was attached to him by hooks pierced into the skin of his back.

A gruesome video posted on social media showed Jesse, 18, just before the jump, clenching his fists as four metal hooks were inserted into the flesh around his shoulder blades. It is not known if any anaesthetic was involved in the process.

It is not known if any anaesthetic was involved in the process. Jesse was then seen standing on the rail of a road bridge. A companion held the parachute which opened seconds after Jesse jumped.

Despite the force generated by the stunt, his piercings did not rip free and he landed safely after gliding through a valley in an unknown location.

The phenomenon is known as suspension base jumping and was created by Russian thrill-seeker Stanislav Aksenov, who joined Jesse for the jump.

It combines base jumping – parachuting from a stationary point – with Mr Aksenov’s love of piercings. Leaps often result in blood being drawn.

The hooks are removed afterwards and are said to leave small scars after the flesh has closed up. Jesse described it as ‘the most intense experience’, adding: ‘I love that feeling of falling with nothing.’

His father Bear commended his achievement but begged him not to repeat it.

He wrote: ‘You smashed it! But never again. Now you’re world record holder for youngest ever skin parachute jump, just enjoy it.’ He added: ‘No more!’

Many commenting on the video showed sympathy for Jesse’s mother Shara, who also has sons Marmaduke and Huckleberry with Grylls.

Jesse spent the summer base jumping in Europe. Base is an acronym for building, antenna, span, and earth – the objects that a person can jump from.

His father shared a video of the teenager jumping from a cliff in the Italian Dolomites, writing: ‘Jesse is now 18 and his own man, ready for life… He is kind, humble, hard working, original and I can’t stop him jumping off stuff.

‘This is his first big wall base jump. Under canopy by ten seconds or it’s toast. As we say, “Pull high don’t die”.’

In the clip, Jesse was seen taking a deep breath before launching himself off the cliff. He soared through the air before pulling on his parachute cord and floating to safety.

The first person to complete a suspension base jump was Sergey Kotelnikov in Moscow in June 2014 when he jumped from an electricity pylon.
