The massive Google Pixel 8a leak includes all the predicted specs β and a price
The Google Pixel 8a could be with us as early as May 14, when Google I/O 2024 kicks off, and a new leak may give us all the device’s specs – as well as prices for the mid-range phone in Europe.
This comes from @MysteryLupin (through Android Police), and while some of this information has been leaked before, we haven’t seen such a comprehensive list of all the specs the Pixel 8a brings.
Under the hood we’re looking at a Tensor G3 chipset (just like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro), 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The screen is said to be a 6.1-inch AMOLED display with a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.
The rear cameras will apparently top out at 64MP and 13MP, with a 13MP selfie camera on the front – and a whole host of AI photo editing features are mentioned in the leak, as you’d expect from a Google Pixel phone. The battery is said to last up to 72 hours with power saving mode enabled, or “more than 24 hours” with normal use.
Colors and costs
There’s an interesting list of colors in this leak: volcanic black, porcelain, blue, azure, green, and aloe. That sounds like two shades of blue and two shades of green, making a total of six colors, while previous leaks only showed four. There may be variations in availability depending on region.
We also have a starting price for Europe: β¬549. That’s slightly higher than the β¬509 the Google Pixel 7a cost when it first launched, so prices in other parts of the world could also go up (the Pixel 7a cost $499 / Β£449 / AU at launch $749).
The pricing of this smartphone is interesting as it also lists β¬569 and β¬599 previous leaks. It seems like there is no consensus on whether the Google Pixel 8a will see a price hike or not.
How much the Pixel 8a costs will ultimately go a long way in determining whether it’s better value for money than the Pixel 8, which starts at $699 / Β£699 / AU$1,199. We should know for sure in a few weeks.
