Masked Singer viewers were left in tears on Saturday over Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell’s emotional reunion on the show.

Dippy Egg was revealed as Nicky left the judge, surprising his Long Lost Family co-host Davina when she jumped from her seat and ran onto the stage for a hug.

Struggling to hold back tears, she said, “This is the best surprise, better than any birthday. I love this man!’.

‘Nicky is a friend, we’ve been working together for thirteen years and I can’t believe I didn’t recognize your voice, I didn’t recognize your singing voice. I know your singing voice. This is insane!’.

Fans admitted to ‘crying’ over the special moment, with one token on X: ‘I cried when I saw the bond between you’

Another wrote: ‘It was beautiful, it made me cry, it was emotional, such a great friendship.

The Masked Singer had viewers on the edge of their seats when the identities of two celebrities were revealed during Saturday’s double eviction.

Firstly, Dippy Egg was revealed as Nicky Campbell left the judge and his Long Lost Family co-host Davina stunned.

Maypole was then unmasked, after landing in the bottom two with the Eiffel Tower, and revealed to be none other than Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton.

Judges Davina, Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross were joined on the panel by Sir Lenny Henry, but no one managed to guess correctly.

At X, some viewers were left emotional by Nicky’s shocking revelation and surprising reunion with boyfriend Davina.

One wrote: ‘How did Nicky Campbell dressed like a singing dippy egg make me so emotional?’

While a second said: ‘Nicky Campbell and Davina’s reunion has made me cry.’

And a third said: ‘Well I got a bit emotional seeing Nicky Campbell dressed as a Dippy egg, singing Moon River isn’t how I expected it to go tonight… but here we are’ .

Someone else wrote: ‘I thought Nicky Campbell was absolutely fantastic.’

After the show, Nicky described his time as Dippy Egg as ‘incredible’ before discussing Davina’s reaction.

He said, ‘Oh, she was emotional. I was emotional when I did the song again. It was unbelievable’.

“I was emotional the whole time, just seeing her through the mask. At every performance I could more or less make her out, and I thought, ‘It’s so close and yet so far!’.

Melody, who also won the Australian version of the show in 2022, said she returned to the series because it was “completely positive”.

She said: ‘You can actually just have fun, and it was great to bring this character to life!’.

Melody also revealed that she had written a ‘whole biography’ for Maypole in an attempt to stay in character throughout her time on stage.

‘She’s not far from a female Pinocchio. So there’s a part of her that wants to be loved and she’s covered in all these colors. I just wanted to see her go far.”

Last week Owl was revealed as none other than ITV icon Lorraine Kelly, 64, and the moment left viewers and judges stunned as the broadcaster removed her huge mask to wild applause from the studio audience.

The panel was joined by Ellie Goulding, but no one guessed that it was in fact Lorraine strutting her stuff on stage.

While host Joel Dommet exclaimed: ‘This might be one of the best reveals we’ve ever had on the show!’.

Unable to wipe the big smile off her face, Lorraine said: “I loved being Owl, I loved every second of it, the show is so joyful.”
