Grandmaster Flash revealed his identity after performing as Polar Bear on Wednesday during the New York Night themed episode of The Masked Singer.
The 65-year-old hip hop pioneer wore a giant white polar bear suit with gold chains and a red baseball cap on its side while competing on Fox’s hit show.
“We are in the presence of an icon,” said show host Nick Cannon, 42, as Polar Bear unmasked. ‘You are a pioneer of an entire culture. Why did you want to do this show?
“In today’s world, there is a lot of sadness, and when I saw this program on a difficult day that I had for work, I laughed,” replied the world famous DJ. βHe actually made me laugh and allowed you to let your guard down and have fun. It’s a great show.
‘And that’s why we love you. …You’re so important to us, so important to the culture, but you came here to have a good time,’ Nick said.

Nicole Scherzinger, 44, the only panelist to have correctly guessed his identity, said she was honored to have him on the show after 97-year-old Dick Van Dyke left her in tears while on the show.
“We’re looking at the man who invented scratching,” Nicole said.
And your energy is so contagious. That’s all it is. You’re spreading the real message, just like your song, The Message,β Nicole said, referencing Grandmaster’s seminal 1982 song Flash and the Furious Five.
Grandmaster Flash, whose real name is Joseph Saddler, then pulled out his DJ set and started playing Chic’s song Good Times as the entire panel and audience got up and started dancing.
Earlier on the show, he had shared his clues about his identity from a lottery ticket and electronic equipment before performing Blondie’s Rapture surrounded by dancers and a breakdancing Statue of Liberty.
Long Island medium Theresa Caputo, 55, also took the stage and shared another polar bear clue.
‘All I know is this polar bear is giving off amazing star power vibes right now, right?’ Theresa said. ‘I totally see you standing at a podium giving a speech. I think it’s actually an acceptance speech into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Jenny McCarthy, 50, guessed it was Flavor Flav. Robin Thicke, 45, said it was LL Cool and Ken Jeong, 53, guessed it was P. Diddy.

Medusa was the first contestant to perform in the season nine episode and shared a hint about her identity as a white terrier before taking the stage and performing Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York.
“We’re all so speechless right now,” Jenny said. ‘If you don’t have shelves of Grammys on your walls, I’d be really surprised. How beautiful and stunning, I think one of the best and most unique performances to date on The Masked Singer.
“That performance was ethereal,” Nicole said.
The comments brought Medusa to tears.
Real Housewives of New York City star Luann De Lesseps, 57, in a blue sequined bodysuit, stepped out to share a clue about Medusa’s identity.
Nick gave her a compliment and teased Luann about having a “love thing”.

Luann brought a bridge with her as a clue to Medusa. Nick then thanked Luann for coming on the show.

Nicole thought it was Lorde or Shirley Manson. Ken said that he thought she was Susan Boyle. Robin thought that she might be Kesha.
The California Roll performed for the last time in the episode. His costume was a giant sushi roll with five different pieces, each holding a microphone and performing. His tracks included titles from the Ivy League, Broadway, and Marriage.
The five-piece sushi roll sang Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi song. The crowd cheered when it was over.
“We’re definitely on a roll tonight,” Nick joked.
“Lady Gaga would be proud,” Ken said. “This was epic and amazing.”

Pizza Rat, a person dressed in a rat suit carrying a slice of pizza, pulled a clue that read “Five Billion”.
Nicole guessed it might be the cast of Pitch Perfect. Ken thought it might be the cast of High School Musical with Zac Efron.
“It was nice meeting you,” Nick said.
Medusa and California Roll faced off in a final Battle Royale singing their own renditions of Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl. Medusa did a sped up version, while California Roll did a lower, slower version harmonizing together.
“My mind is blown,” Jenny yelled. ‘Holy Cow. Holy sushi roll.
“This is the most competitive battle royale we’ve ever had,” said Ken. ‘I just have to be real right now. Medusa, you know how much we love you. Always singing from your heart, from your bowels, from your soul. California Roll you turned Uptown Girl into a different world. An amazing emoji!
Nick then announced that the California Roll would proceed to the quarterfinals.

Ken said this was really hard, but he thought it was Susan Boyle.

In the last seconds before Medusa unmasked, Nicole, after quick consultation, got up and rang this season’s new ‘Ding Dong Keep It On’ bell that saved Medusa from unmasking.
“Medusa lives to sing another day,” Nick said as the crowd chanted “Ding dong, keep it up.”
Medusa tearfully thanked the panel for saving her.
“I’m so relieved,” said Medusa, who joked that she wasn’t wearing waterproof mascara.
The Masked Singer will return next Wednesday on Fox.
